Ughh so had my Fireman Storm Chaser for three weeks and just got this scratch/ dent in the case. Do you think I can get it fixed or will it need a new case?

Thanks everyone on the welcome to the forums messages, and advise!

Ok so I think you guys are right about leaving it alone and maybe one day fixing during a later service after it gets a few more scratches/ marks. Or maybe not ever worrying about it again....

Took it to an AD just to get an estimate from Ball... I picked it up a couple of days ago after I got the call from them... Even the sales guy talked me out of the repair after he found out what the estimate from Ball was...

So the Fireman Storm Chaser does NOT have a replaceable bezel (also the watchmaker did not think the dent could be buffed out without affecting the overall look).

It appears to be a one piece machined case. So according to Ball they would have to replace:

--Case
--Crystal (not too sure why as no marks)
--Gaskets
--And for some reason the crown and pushers ( have no idea why)

Cost was $1000.00. Ugh!!

Again, everything was perfect except for that one scratch / dent... So seems extremely expensive.

Maybe one day if it has a ton of scratches /dents I will fix... Otherwise planning on living with its new character mark :)

Same for motorcycles and all gear really

I scratched a new Rolex on the side, walking and it hit a cement pillar... just for looks on a store. It came out five inches, just enough to nick any ones watch it seemed.

I figured first scratch.. OK

lived with it and never noticed it again. 8 years it was the only scratch and i wore it 24/7

When I sold it, the buyer was ecstatic to see it. It told him I never had it polished.

If this bothers you, you wont enjoy the freedom of wearing a watch.

Looking at other pictures i have found online, i cant see a gap for the bezel, telling me if it were replaceable or not.Basically , under magnification, if you see a tiny gap between the bezel ring itself and the case, it should be replaceable.
If none can be seen, the case will have to be replaced, Or the bezel area can be refinished. I think it can be refinished, so long as it is made of real steel.
Yep , as Ganson said, to refinish it, it may removed quite a bit of material. But if it is done with care, it will look even, and like it was supposed to be that way. That ding doesnt look more than a 1/5th of a mm in depth at very worst. And we may say removing alot of material, but in essence , its a tiny amount really.
I have filed and sanded out stainless steel cases with dings worse than that.
The only worry i would have , is that it might make the markings on the bezel a little more shallow .I cant really tell from the photo, but the numbers look pretty deep, so it probably could be done. The watch would have to be opened, the movement taken out, and the crystal with its gasket , removed before work could be done on it. After the ding is filed and sanded out, the texture will have to be put on again. And likely , the bezel indices would have to be repainted.
All of this could be done by a careful watch maker. It can be tough work, but is doable.
