Not like that, I found a $3000 charge off on one of my credit reports 10 years ago for a card I never had. The thief had got the card in my name.
I had to fight and prove I didn't never live in Portland OR.
I ended up not having to pay anything and the false record was removed after 7 years.
No matter how much I argued the point with TransUnion, I think, they would not remove the record because the creditor, Bank of America kept on sending the false data to them. After seven years it dropped off naturally.
