Would you consider any Rolex "Stealthy Wealth"

Hey everyone,

So long story short is I like everyday watches & have been a huge Rolex fan but they just do not seem to be an everyday type of watch. I find myself always talking to people about it or getting compliments (which can be great, but I am not the one for that type of chitter chatter). I have been looking to continue the Rolex trend within my watch collection but have been craving a very "low-key" or "stealthy" style.

First question would be, do you think any model is "stealth wealth" or would you consider none of them to be that way. The second question I would have to ask is what Rolex are you currently wearing ( WRIST CHECK! ). I am taking a look at a YouTube premiere today that apparently should have some "stealth wealth" watches but honestly I can not see it. Let me know your thoughts, I think they chose five but am not completely sure.. Let me know what you think and say hi, if you see me in chat!

If I were to guess I am thinking that most of the watches will include an explorer, datejust, maybe a sub, and maybe some vintages being in thier picks but we will see!

Sporting the comfortable Milgauss ZBlue , not stealthy , but a simple oyster would fit the bill as well as any of the simple Rolex Cellini’s
An oyster perpetual while a fine watch, would go unnoticed by me. From the distance at which you view another's watch, that could be anything. An old quartz Seiko, a Timex, etc.
Having said that I think the whole notion of "Stealth Wealth" is steeped in BS.

I'm not sure most the people buying Rolex do so because they want to be stealthy.. maybe quite the opposite.

Non-watch people today tend not to care about what watch someone else is wearing, ignoring it completely. It's likely only people who are into watches what will make the effort to see, and those people will know a Rolex when they see one. So I am not convinced there could be a Stealth Rolex, other than, as already mentioned, a Cellini.

Given you are more likely to see an iWatch on someone's wrist (or no watch at all) these days, I would have to say the only way to be stealth is to be indistinguishable in the crowd.. In other words, wear an Apple Watch.

Not sure how stealthy a Rolex can be, but those ones the guys are
talking about. Along with the ones in the video are definitely sharp
looking Oliver !:) And I guess the stealthiness depends on us,
and how each of us think. But just for fun, thought of a couple more
that are kind of stealthy, or low key, and blend into their surroundings. 🙂

The Explorer

And also Air-King

Nothing stealthy about a Rolex, at least in the minds of most those thirsting for one, they want to show off the "I have arrived" status they think that it will give them. Unfortunately, they will soon find that the average Joe Dokes on the street won't even give it a second glance since there are tons of fakes, look-a-likes, and homages floating around out there.

So in reality the average Rolex is stealthy!

Yup -- that looks stealthy enough . . . .

I've never heard of that concept until now. Buying and wearing a Rolex (the favourite of many a 'got rich quick' Dutch artist and entrepreneur) is per definition the opposite of 'stealthy'. It long has been, and still is, the proof that you have 'arrived'. When I sit on one of the terraces in my home town, there is one that is frequented by well dressed ladies of undetermined age (too blond, too tanned, too much Botox ;)) that almost all wear a ladies Rolex. Or some Cartier. Now I know this sounds incredible judgemental but it isn't. The Rolex choice is a good one. For one they are are sturdy and water resistant while other more dainty ladies watches are not. To them it's a no-brainer. They sip Prosecco or cocktails after their shopping spree. Rotterdammers, like me, are 'gifted' with a very thick accent and so are those ladies. Every time they open their mouths they sound like dock workers so to speak because they are far from posh :p. With their money, diamonds and Rolexes and all. Great gals. I have stated a few times here that the moment I win that State Lottery grand prize, the first watch I will buy is a previous generation (before the boxy look and Rolex engraved rehaut) 18K Sub with blue dial. One of the most ostentatious watches money can buy. Lovely!

For stealty wealth go for a white gold Patek Phililipe. Looks like a run of the mill quartz ticker for those not in the know.
