I have worn my Moto 360 a lot since I got it. It is just fun to wear. I like that you can change the watch face as often as it moves you.

That article is such Apple paid click bate is not even funny.

"It does notifications right" "it replaces my phone". Hahaha. What a bunch of crap. Most people don't want their arm vibrating every couple of minutes, and it can't replace your phone. It is just a phone accessory.

I wonder if the top brass at the big Swiss and Japanese watch manufacturers are getting any good sleep these days. Perhaps they are thinking that it might make far a good career move to jump to Apple or Samsung.

Just speculation.
Yea right. A smart watch has 0 to do with a real mechanical watch. It isn't even competing with it. They're just wearable computers. And at this point they're just accessories to the phone. Nothing more.

How many people have you actually seen wearing an apple watch? Its not even being sold here yet and you're already predicting the death of the watch?

Let's see if people even buy the thing before we start predicting the death of the mechanical watch.

The Apple Watch has a lot to prove. MY guess is that most people aren't going to pay $500-$700 just to look at their notifications on their wrist. Let's give it 1 year and see where it goes.

For every lie there is some truth. I agree apple is a master of promoting itself and I agree that this is very slanted but it does mention samsung so its not all apple. Ill bet anything that most if not all watchfeeks will never in a million years give up their mechanical watches for a smart watch. Hell, I don't even plan on getting a smart watch. Do I represent the masses when it comes to watch aficionados. More than likely not.

dont get your panties in a wad LOL. I made no claims one way or another. I dont own one and dont ever plan on owning one. BTW -- I have sen many people wearing smart watches. But, as we know that is purely anecdotal information. Kindof like what you present in the post above.

Relax -- I did not post to get these responses. I merely post for everyone's enjoyment. I dont care one way or another.

Yes. Samsung of course. Because their watches are such runaway successes.

Android wear. I just see people wearing those things every day. They're just selling like hot cakes.

Give me a break.

We aren't talking about watch aficionados. We are talking about regular people. The Apple Watch is late to the game. Smart Watches have been around for a while. People aren't interested.

As far as Apple Watch, nobody knows where it will end up. Many are already predicting it'll be a passing fad. Nobody knows anything. I haven't even seen one in person yet.

It's just Apple click bait that's all it is.

Jony Ive himself said the Apple Watch has nothing to do with regular mechanical watches. That Apple wants nothing to do with that. Of course they don't, because it isn't a watch. It is an iPhone accessory that many say it is just a useles toy.

If you summarize every real Apple watch review done by the major tech sites they all say the same thing. It is nice and shiny, but as it stands now it is an unnecessary toy.

I haven't seen 1 person wearing a smart watch. Not 1.

The USA isn't the world. Just because some people buy these things in the USA doesn't mean everyone in the world has one.

I'm just referring to the guy who wrote that article, not you personally.

Many of these guys are apple paid morons who write blog posts about any shiny new thing from apple. I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

Android Wear has been a failure. The jury is still out on Apple Watch. Is this even something that most people want? Will it remain a niche product? Only time will tell.

Will it kill the real normal watch? Not in your life.

It'll sell more than Android Wear because of the customer base, overall experience. Apple has a cult like following. But nobody knows if it'll sell in volume or sell just about as well as smart bands.

Let's say that the Apple Watch is useless for most people until it detaches itself from the iPhone and can be used by itself for most things.

I'm not upset at all. I just think it is hilarious that Apple paid trolls are predicting the death of the watch when their own Apple Watch hasn't even shipped in any meaningful volume yet. Maybe a few people have it in the USA but in the rest of the world we've only seen pictures of it.

$500-$700 for a disposable iPhone accessory and they're saying that's the death of the watch. Haha. ridiculous

All these gimmicks are is gimmicks, gimmicks for the cell phone geeks.

If you see someone who has his mug plastered to a cell phone 24/7, they will probably give them a try, just to be trendy.

Problem is, the screen is too small to really be able to use the apps and that is the reason the phones have increased in size in the last 5 years, so you can use the apps without having to use a stylus and go blind trying to read the small type.

So unless they just make wrist bands for my Samsung Galaxy 5 so I could strap that monstrosity on my wrist, I will take a pass.

A requirement for a large screen to be able to use, which isn't feasible for a wrist watch = ultimate FAIL!

apple probably has enough money to buy every Swiss manufacturer out there at the same time. If they so desired they could buy the market.

Apple is a computer company. They have no desire to start buying watch companies.

The watch is just 1 place they will put computers on you. This is only the beginning of wearables. If they come out with a smart ring they won't buy out every ring company in the world. It won't be the death of the regular ring.

Hehehe. People get so overboard with Apple stuff. I'm an apple user too, but this watch thing is getting a bit out of hand now. Let's wait to see if people are interested in buying it first.

They still say the iPhone 5c was really a hit but I never saw a person with one. They had them at the stores here I just never say anyone buying it or using it.

For the Apple Watch to kill the mechanical watch, it would have to be the best selling Apple product in the history of Apple. They would have to sell more phones than anyone else so that all those people can get the Apple watch.

Right now as many iPhones as they sell, Android phones sell much more. Android has the majority of the market.

That means the iPhone would have to overtake all android phones put together all around the entire world. And then have all those people buy an Apple watch.

That's the only way I can see them making a dent on the mechanical / Quartz watch industry.

Yes. Well android wear as we can see isn't selling in any sort of volume. Let's consider that Android Wear watches are a LOT cheaper than an Apple Watch and most people in the world have an Android phone.

And STILL, it hasn't sold. Last year they sold 720,000 smart watches.

Now if we look at apple. An apple watch, just by adding a nice band and the Stainless Steel model you can be looking at $700. That's the cost of a whole iPhone!!!

So you're paying the cost of a phone for what is just an accessory. Just to glance at app notifications.

Then consider that Apple doesn't sell as many phones. Let's say apple has less than 30% phone market share.

So 30% of people in the world that have smart phones have an iPhone. Then how many of those people are actually going to spend $500-$700 for an accessory to their iPhone?

And we are predicting this device will kill the regular watch? Bhuahahaha

I have 2 friends who have a few traditional watches (quartz, automatic). But they have booth now switched almost exclusively to their iWatches. They are both iphone users and had also previously worn a fitness tracker bracelet. Now (to them) this combines everything into one "thing". Additionally it is connected to their phone so they can check who is calling or sending texts without grabbing their actual phone.

They seem to be more then hooked and not switching back, for now.

We will see.

You can be skeptical all you want, Apple watch doesn't care. Its going to be amazing with or without you.

5 years down the line, when the importance of smart watches is blatantly obvious, these posts won't even matter.

Its like when people used to think the world was flat. Comical asterisk in human history.

:clapping-hands-abov
I think everyone understand that wearable tech will be common in the future.

But that's not what is being said. What's being said is that it will kill traditional watches.

The main issue with the Apple watch is that it solves a problem nobody has. Actually it solves no problems at all. It is a fun accessory to have but it is an unnecessary toy. You don't need your wrists vibrating every few minutes.

I get it is new and all that, but the jury is still out if this is going to take or be a passing fad.

Great. Get ready to get another one soon.

This is an American thing. You guys there are the ones that have to buy anything shiny with an apple logo.

What I'm saying is most of the world has Android. Android smart watches are a LOT cheaper and out here outside the USA nobody is walking around with a smart watch. I remember when Samsung Wear came. People looked at it at the store and kept walking. I have never seen anyone with a Samsung smart watch. And everyone and their mother here has a Samsung phone.

I know Americans are very insular. So I don't blame you for thinking the USA is the whole world, but I just want to clarify, the Apple Watch isn't going to kill the watch industry. Not even close.

First they will have to put an iPhone in the hands of everyone in the world and then convince them they need to spend another $500-$700 on an iPhone accesory.

We out here in the world pay CASH full RETAIL for iPhones. We don't get iPhones for almost free on contract. We pay $800+ for iPhones here.

And people out here live in $500 a month. That's their salary. It is tough to tell someone who has to take a bank loan out to buy an iPhone (and that's what they do here. 0% 10 months), to now pay more and get another loan for a watch that basically just gives you notifications.

There were 1.2 Billion watches sold in 2014. Regular watches.

You tell me how the Apple watch or android watches are going to kill that industry any time soon.

The only way I see the Apple Watch selling in big volumes is if everyone in China gets one. Since they make everything, including apple devices, they have the money to buy these things.

But then that means the Chinese. There are still plenty of countries around the world that Will buy regular watches.
