What's up with the "E"?

I bought a Combat Sub about 6 weeks ago and noticed this "E" stamped on the back of the watch. Does anybody know what it stands for?

Still I must know... what's with the E on stainless? I looked into allergic reactions and realized there is a little something to that, stainless and nickel specifically. But... the back of a lug to warn people? No.
I still think it's flagging something specific/unique about a production run. Perhaps something different about the stainless steel that was used in their process? Someone will have the answer.
