I have a couple of Wenger watches and they are of good quality. Both are quartz movement and one has a saphire crystal. I know that Wenger and Victorinox are the same company now. I am wondering if they both are of the same build quality and 100% made in Switzerland. Anybody know, Just curious.

I own several Wenger watches. I think at the low end Wenger Quartz models ( $200 -$300) are built more solid. However, at the higher end Victorinox ($350 - $1000) have been better build quality.

My experiences are based on looking at Victorinox watches in retail stores. In the last 10 years or so Wenger has had very limited automatic construction models. I have several of automatics from Wenger from say 2000 - 2010. They are run well and keep acceptable time over long periods.

The last Wenger quartz I bought in 2015 is a field model which retails for $275. That watch is keeping excellent time. I have a much more expensive Wenger Quartz dual time model which is frankly a battery hog. I usually have gotten 6 mos. to 9 mos. per battery and rarely wear it. I pulled the stem out so stop it from running, in fact.

These days, and at the prices for most of the models they offer, nothing is 100% made in Switzerland. They are for sure outsourcing certain things. But they follow the Swiss guidelines to be able to put Swiss made on the dial.

In my experience, Wenger Watches are good, depends on the price points. I'm sure these days at similar price points the two brands are equal. Though it seems while they are still making Wenger Watches, the push and marketing is still behind Victorinox branded merchandise more.

Just got a Wenger Terragraph black case today. Nice watch! Not too thrilled with the plain black leather strap it came with, so I ordered a black leather Nato strap for it.

About 16 years ago I purchased a Wenger (looks a bit like a diver style with rotating bezel, screw down crown, steel strap). After about a year the battery went bad. Had it replaced, but several months later it went dead. The watch repair shop "repaired" it ( I think they charged me for a new movement). It lasted for a few weeks then went dead again. I recently found it in a drawer and decided to replace the battery myself. To my surprise it worked! It has been keeping time accurately for the past couple of months. My guess is that the repair shop didn't repair it at all. They simply placed an old battery in it and charged me for a repair that wasn't done.

I ended up replacing the metal strap with a rubber strap and gave it to my daughter who loves it and uses it every day. I truly believe they are good watches.

I got to try one of these on recently at a Macy's store.

I really liked the bracelet! A unique clasp, but very secure.

I got a little lump in my throat watching the saleswoman put it back behind glass. It deserves to be free, out there in the wild!
