Watch buying and divorce rates

I've heard this mentioned in some gun forums that I'm a member of. I'm wondering if there is a correlation with ahigher number of divorces when you factor in those who buy a large quantity of watches. Many have told me on the gun forums that their fetish in buying the newest and coolest guns created marital problems to the point that divorce was the only way the couple could resolve the problem. Now with that in mind I don't think anybody should get divorced over a tangible assest. I would think that marriage counseling or the end of collecting should be done before divorce is placed on the table.

I also want to preface this thread with "NO" my wife and I aren't getting divorced. I work with a lot of cops that get divorced because of their love of the job and for financial reasons. Most of their financial problems are a result of spending too much money on guns and other police related accessories.

Is there a correlation between the two?? Some may view this as a stupid thread, but being a Psychology Major this kind ofstuff intrigues me. This goes deeper then just walking out and buying a watch. This has to do with the obsession of buying watches to the point that it destroys your marriage or creates marital problems.

ROB IF COLLECTING CAUSES A DIVORCES THEN IAM GLAD IAM NOT MARRIED. I CANT SEE WHERE THERE SHOULD BE A PROBLEM AS LONG AS THE COLLECTING DOESNT CAUSE A FINANCIAL BURDEN ON THE FAMILY.

keep your day job Rob.:BEcops have a higher divorce rate in high crime areas.that would be the entire usa at the moment. The stress the spouse takes is very high and that leads to other things that seem to cause divorce.underlying problem is the job. Some women like my ex will do it just to get their hands on part of the collection, the lying wh**&e!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, off topic.:madd

Maybe it can with some families but others? both end up collecting watches.while buying watches can put a financial strain on the marriage, theres always a deeper problem going on.The addiction just brings it to the surface. If I knew what caused divorce I'd still be married.

NO! If collecting anytrhing causes a problem the mariage was in trouble for other reasons. Most happily married couples talk things through and know what they can and cannot afford! I definetly agree with the above comment that police work can stress a mariage and maybe cause severe problems. ....Bob

I do agree with all of you. Cops have the highest divorce rates and it just keeps climbing. The stress is very high in our line of work. My wife and I are very happy for any that might be wondering. I have just wondered if it was the obsession or the OCD factors involved with a lot of watch collectors that causes divorce. I was just curious about others thoughts on this. I personally don't know anybody that has divorced over watches, but many talk about it as a result of their irresponsible gun purchases. Thanks for all the input on this.

Collecting is not the problem
Out of control spending that financially puts a family in potential relationship strain.
I know MANY people on other forums that buy and buy and buy and value pay and put on other credit cards, and before they know it they CAN'T AFFORD FOOD or daycare, or gas and are bankrupt.
