THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS - Both are amazing watches and everyone's opinion is theirs and perfectly fine.

The obvious differences are the dial layout, size of each (close but different), and water resistance)

Let's do this for fun. So post below which you like better, and why.

save up and buy the two ! :clapping-hands-abov
Like the Steelfish much better, don't care for the military looking numbers on the Seawolf, it looks like something stenciled on a shipping crate.

Currently Steelfish owner , but owned both, crown on the Seawolf is better, that been said...
Seawolf "apparent" water resistant rating advantage, aside from a nice conversation piece, is pretty much an overkill and irrelevant, most folks that actually dive, have never been deeper than 30/40 meters, I much prefer the Steelfish, better compensated case dimensions both in size and most important thickness than the bulkier Seawolf.
Few are more versatile for everyday use than the Steelfish, comfortable in a semi-formal dress situation, as well as in any water sports environments, have mine on a ProII bracelet.

A! The crown seems a bit too large on the other one to me.
I can't vote. Like them both.
Steelfish for me, both watches have about as much writing on the dial as the rough draft for the Magna Carta.

The Steelfish at least has some dot markers instead of numbers to unclutter the dial.

BLING STEELFISH 4 me

C WUFF 2 thick
For me the dial of the X-Plus was the winner. I also like the older CPL bracelet. FWIW, the X-Plus was only make in 2006 and is pictured below. The name changed to Steelfish in 2007 dropping X-Plus and adding the new hands, bracelet, and larger lumes.

I'm new here so just my two cents.

Both are outstanding watches and have many of the same characteristics. I own a Superocean 44 and love it.

It's a draw!
I lean a LITTLE more toward the Avenger, but I have a steelfish Incoming in Blue!

I like the bezel markers on the avenger better and the traditional numbers on the dial....however there is something about the dial that's mesmerizing on the steelfish.
Dinner:
Leave it up to you to come up with a real poser question.
I like B, no hold on I like A. No I change back to A
This is too durn tuff a choice for an old duffer like Lou.

B. Avenger works for me. It's has a much bolder feel. That dial to me staples Breitling.
