Nice list. I take it this is a want list as opposed to a grail list. I have two lists myself. I wish for you a great end of 2009 and may you acquire some of these before the end of 2010.

Sorry to hear that James. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do. It ain't always fair but providing for your family is up there on the list of things that are important. It doesn't mean you can't be mad about it and you should be but don't over stress about it either. Hang in there. Friday night I left work early against my bosses wishes and we went to my daughters college to help her celebrate her 21st birthday. You try to make as many of the important events as you can.

Get home safe my friend, that is what is important. Work and family need to be kept in balance. Sometimes it is harder then others. I have no doubt that you are a great parent and even though it was painful, I'm sure your son (and the rest of your family) will be none the worse for this short separation. Just think about all those service men in Iraq and Afghanistan that are away from their families for long tours of duty. Now, get home and hug them all.

I think there is a difference between Compassion:

Compassion, meaning to suffer together with, is a human emotion prompted by the pain of others.

Empathy

which literally translates as in feeling, is the capability to share another being's emotions and feelings.
and, Grief

Grief is a multi-faceted response to loss, particularly to the loss of someone or something to which we have formed a bond.
I believe that we feel things on many different levels. For the Haiti Earthquake victims and survivors I feel compassion. I can't share their emotions so I don't have empathy and I don't have a bond with them so I don't feel grief. It doesn't mean that my compassion for their plight is not strong nor that I can't take actions to help them. It is just how I define my feelings. It is all too easy in this world to become desensitized to the horror of famine, war and disaster, because the modern news brings it into our living rooms nightly. I think this started with Vietnam and studies have shown that we as Americans did not want to see those horrors nightly. Recently, GWB would not even allow journalist to photograph coffins of returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan for fear that Americans did not have the stomach to see it on a nightly basis. IMHO it is more important how one turns their feelings into positive actions. I think the measure of a person is not what they feel, but how they respond to those feelings. You can feel bad watching an old man get mugged, but do you call for help or turn away. You can feel bad about a major disaster but do you rush to help in even a small way, as many have, or do you wait for somebody else to step in and help. Each person needs to ask themselves what is right. I do not judge anyone.

This is a very deep issue that just can't be properly discussed in a forum post. I beleive that people are inherently good, they want to do the right thing. They just don't always know how. That is why we have leaders and followers. Our leaders are not always pure of thought and action, they always seem to have an agenda. The sheep can be lead to whatever ends the leaders choose which is usually towards some self-serving purpose, like making them rich or helping them obtain political power. What happens next is that the followers eventually become jaded and can't distinguish the few real leaders from the posers. I know this is a very jaded view but I'm sorry, I can only be promised change so many times before I want to puke.

A famous movie line, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore comes to mind.

I just don't get it when it comes to jobs and health care why the USA can't figure it out. Anyone who is able bodied and can work should be able to get a job that pays a fair wage. Anyone that works should be able to afford health care for their family. I think it is as simple as that. But no, the insurance companies and the Rx companies need to make more money. The big corporations need to make billions in profits rather then create jobs. I know this sounds socialistic but it is NOT. I think there needs to be a greater responsibility to society. I'm not talking about welfare here, I'm talking about jobs and wages and health care. Somehow they need to work for all Americans. The Dems and Republicans can sit on each side of the isle and point fingers. That just doesn't get it done. Leadership gets it done, bi-partisanship gets it done, co-operation gets it done. I have always said, Don't tell me what you can do, show me what you can do. It is time for our leaders to show up and earn their pay.

Feel free to delete this post if it offends you in your blog. I am ranting a bit and on my soap box. Sorry!

Horrible cleaning

One huge hole in my top left back wisdom tooth.
After today's 1.5 hour torture session cleaning (which still cost $85 after insurance) I have to schedule the following
1) another hour long cleaning session next week (left side)
2) an additional hour long session the following week (right side)
3) AND THE WORST ONE - GO GET A QUOTE TO PULL ALL 4 WISDOM TEETH since the current hole is in one of them and the other 3 show considerable decay and soon to be problems.

who can afford all of this crap???????????????
Wisdom? They must have the wrong guy.:lol

Hey, no sympathy here about the dentist. I am living there. I might as well move in. I think they ought to name a wing after me with the money I've spent. Do you have any idea what kind of watches I could buy with the $6K I've dropped on this one tooth?
