There are forums and there are forums. I was just thinking about why I spend so much time here on Freeks, I came to the conclusion that it is because you (we) are all so non judgmental, if someone gets a watch for a few dollars or free in a box of cereal, guys on here will ALWAYS find something kind and nice to say about it, like "love the color of the dial" "really nice case shape" etc, I get that not everyone can spend thousands on a watch, but for someone on a fixed income, or going through tough times, a new watch for a few bucks is a big deal.
Oh and we also complement you on your Rolexes , Omegas, etc without envy but with admiration.
Cheers guys, keep it up.

Great group of watch enthusiasts. Minimal drama and gentleman acting as gentleman. We all deserve a round of applause......

In reading "other forums" I am amazed at the amount of people that think you need to spend thousands to participate in the hobby (or in discussions). You get the same feeling talking to anybody with a "mild passion" looking to get in and enjoy. I had somebody post to my blog the other day that he needed to "step up his watch game" because he "only wore a Casio". I told him, "you know there is a whole subculture of very passionate Casio only collectors on the web" ... to which he was kind of surprised.

You don't need a million dollars to participate and if you are a real hobbyist you can almost always find at least one aspect to any watch that you may like. My goal is to fondle as many watches as I can before I die :p .

Another giant plus for this forum is the marked lack of watch snobs and rabid fan boys, like you see on other sites.

:smile-thumb2: RIGHT. EXACTLY. This forum is like "watch-porn" for me!

The OP is dead bang right. If I may add:This forum has continued to be a welcoming safe haven for "wrists of all sizes" since it's inception.

I know I don't know any of you. And some of you are also on the "other" site, as will as myself. I hang out here the most because I think it has a "like home" atmosphere. Might be cause it is a bit smaller. It might be that you don't have 500 thousand threads. It might be as already said, just a nice group of people to hang out with. Bottom line is, it seems i have more fun here. And should it grow I hope that part never changes.

I have not been able to buy a watch since July 2014. Just the way things are right now. However, that does not prevent me from enjoying my collection, your collection, or the hobby. I still have a list and love to spot a cool watch out in the wild or have somebody ask me about the piece on my wrist. All good as far as I'm concerned.
