I think the company will be around in some shape or form. they might be losing their current supplier of parts but -

Of course, it doesn't hurt that Tesla obtained a $465 million loan from the Energy Department to build the Model S and is shopping for factory space in Southern California

The Roadster, the companies only product, the first true freeway-capable, mass-produced electric car of the modern age, will go bye-bye next year.

The only ones happy about all of this: The 1,000 or so Tesla Roadster owners.
Don't forget GM's EV-1. Leased through Saturn Dealers in California and Arizon in the mid 90's. There were about 900 or so made and were freeway capable. Of course GM crushed the all.
