About: After years of buying hand made straps for myself, I decided I was sick of waiting weeks and months for straps (some that I later found out weren't even crafted by the "maker") and so I decided to start making them myself. Fast-forwards 6 months and I've now got my own "mini" shop in my home and I'm about to move everything into my warehouse for a much larger workspace to fit some new and bigger tools and my every growing leather hide collection.
My constant goal is to offer a more personalized strap making process for my customers at a fair price. My straps are all made by ME and me alone. And currently they are all made from only U.S. sourced materials.
Handmade leather watch straps for the discerning watch enthusiast. Watch straps designed specifically for Rolex, Omega, Breitling and Panerai watches in mind.
Our watch straps are made entirely by hand, each one taking anywhere between 4-6 hours to craft from start to finish. It's a labor of love for those who hold their timepieces in high regard.
Price - $95 USD
Thoughts and impressions: As many of you are aware I have be fortunate to handle many different Horween straps from various makers around the world. Immediately I noticed similar levels of quality from Rocco Straps compared to anything that has passed through my hands especially at a $95 price point. The leather for this particular strap is a Vintage Horween Derby that is finished very well throughout including maker branding on the underside of the strap. Rocco uses waxed nylon thread as he believes it holds up better than linen which seems logical. The edges are dyed, waxed and burnished. I really appreciate the glued and stitched keepers which I believe will increase their durability. The strap measures 20mm/20mm in width, approximately 135mm/87mm in length and approximately 4mm thick.
Initially the strap was ever so slightly stiff out of the box however I knew based on my experiences with Horween leather that the strap would become more and more supple over time. So, as anticipated the leather has become increasingly more soft and supple within just a few days and the comfort level is through the roof. Also, in just a short time as the strap continues to break-in, I notice more and more character to the overall appearance. The more a Horween strap is marked up the better I believe it looks. Overall quality at $95 for a Hand Made strap is well within reason based on my extensive past experiences.
While Rocco's mission statement has many higher end watches in mind, his work is perfect for so much more. Horween leather is definitely something that strap lovers need to have in their collection for certain and why not try out a new vendor while the prices are affordable. I can easily envision prices increasing as he gains more experience and recognition. I really enjoyed working with Anthony on developing the perfect strap for this particular watch. Anthony really emphasized building the strap around the watch rather than the other way around which is the way it should be regardless. He was very open to seeing pictures so do not hesitate to share photos with him so he can really design the perfect strap. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to your comments.
