Okay, i started a new thread because there seemed to be some confusion with the watch in question, and so i though i would throw some information out there.......

first of all, Steinhart and Debaufre have parted ways and no longer affiliated, so from here on out, the new designs from both companies will be different from each other.......

second, there are 4 different models of the Triton....

the debaufre/steinhart triton, wich was the original........

Then there is the Debaufre Triton on metal.......

Then there is the new debaufre triton 2000 meter............THIS IS THE WATCH THAT THE CASE IS BEING USED BY SIX DIFFERENT COMPANIES.............NOT THE NEW STEINHART TRITION......

Then there is the New Steinhart Triton 100atm.........designed by Steinhart, and more of an upgrade to the original triton.............

I'm still confused.

Oh, I understand about the watch though.

It's everything else that confuses me. :l

I own several Steinharts as well as a few Debaufre's. I've also exchanged numerous e-mails with the owners of both companies - great folks w/great products!

That's why your report that they'd parted ways kinda set me back on my heels. After some thought tho', I realized that, with the 'retirement' of Debaufre's original owners and the 'ascendancy' of their son to the CEO-ship, I'm not all THAT surprised.

I ALSO found it strange that the last watch I ordered from Debaufre shipped DIRECTLY from Grovanna out of Switzerland - which, of course, means that Debaufre is no longer directly in control of the QC/QA of their watches - which to my way of thinking is definitely NOT a good thing!

Furthermore, I ALSO notice that Steinhart has FINALLY relented and now deducts the 19% Tax on shipments outside the Euro Community! FWIW, being as US citizen, I repeatedly asked them to deduct this tax on my recent purchases - all to no avail.

I even mentioned that, by charging me the .19 Euro Tax on shipments to the USofA, they may be in violation of international marketing agreements - again, all to no avail!

So, I AM glad that Gunter, 'et al', FINALL saw the light! This makes their lineup EXTREMELY attractive to me and I may 'bite' again sometime in the near future.

In the interim, I'm grateful for what I DO have and truly enjoy my Steinharts 'no end', so with or without the tax doesn't bother me that much!

Besides, I want everyone to know that Gunter Steinhart is a true gentleman and a genuine watch enthusiast who's only concern seems to be the happiness of his customers.

The removal of THAT tax now makes them MUCH more competitive with Debaufre so, again, I'm not shocked that they've each gone their separate ways!

I like the new Steinhart triton you posted James...well, actually I like the dial....but there first one is better in my opinion...the other one has a dlc coated bezel and the bezel is all lume......this new one looks too similar to the original triton for me...especially with the bezel...

A nice mesh bracelet on that watch would do the trick! :)

I have personally never liked the Triton models. It is just one of those things that I can't put my finger on why, but I really don't like it.
