Hey everyone, I know we have a sports section here. But thought
it would be fun to have a continuous thread where you could post
up news about your favorite teams, or players, or just favorite
sports in which you enjoy. 馃榾

I know there are always countless great games, as well as sporting
events going on every day. So post up whatever you like. 馃槈

So what team? Or player are you rooting for? 馃檪

What鈥檚 the latest that鈥檚 going on within your favorite sport? Or just
sports in general? :D

Everyone in Team Orange on the coming Olympics. And Max Verstappen of course, the country and media have exploded over his performance. The kid isn't doing bad, not bad at all :p But I also have to voice my disgust over our national football team (worth 250 million Euro on the pitch) and their abysmal performance! My daughter worked in a high-end boutique, frequented by some of the players from Rotterdam origin. They buy clothes like there's no tomorrow (paid for with cash) like a vest lined with fur for 6900 Euro. I won't mention his name but he drove up there in his custom Rolls Royce. It's an honour to play for your country and they should give every last drop of sweat and blood but no, too busy taking selfies  And two days later pictures of some of them on a yacht drinking Champagne. (No fakery because many of them 'earn' over 100K per week). The fans are outraged. I don't care about the game but they should be ashamed of themselves.

Huh, not really sure.

In terms of what happened last night.... Well done Italy ! Although I hate footie..

I like cycling, but Jensie retired many years ago and Sky / Froome was another (lighter) case of the Lance years.

I also like Rugby; All Blacks, Scotland and Springboks are my favourite teams.

Hockey is also great, but I support local teams which you likely have never heard of.

I also like FIA WEC, but especially Die Gr眉ne H枚lle and Le Mans, but since Audi and Porsche quit LM MP1, it's been rather boring with Toyota running a one horse race.

I enjoy many different sports. Rugby (winter) and cricket (summer) are national sports in SA and at the (boys) high school I attend it was compulsory to play both. The school produced and continues to produce many sportsmen who represented their country at international level.

In addition, I enjoy football (soccer), MMA, motocycle racing (MotoGP - Brad 33) and horseracing. Equines are still a big part of my life, business and pleasure.

Actually, there are a few more

Phoenix Suns lost the NBA Championship, but I didn't watch one second of it, the kneeling makes me want to puke!

I'm also for Team Orange -- or, as they call it, "Team Papaya".
Unfortunately, only half our team is currently performing to the desired level. That needs to improve if the main rival team (Team Cavallino) is to be kept at bay ;)

Frans, and Yokel, it sounds like Team Orange needs you guys to
coach them perhaps. :D(y)(y) Maybe you both could get them
set in the right direction, and focused on their sport rather than
everything else it sounds like. But unfortunately, it really doesn鈥檛
sound out of the ordinary with so many of today鈥檚 athletes. So
many of them seem to care more about what comes thanks to
being fortunate enough to play their sport. Rather than the sport
itself, their fans, or winning right?!

It鈥檚 similar to those people you saw at the restaurant, and bar
a little while back Frans, where everyone was busy taking selfies.
It鈥檚 more about being self absorbed, and like a celebrity than
anything else it seems. 馃檨

Hector, and Steve, it is the best how many sports you both are
into, and honestly !! 馃槑馃槑And you know, it doesn鈥檛 matter if
we might not know the team, or player at all really. ..Whatever
is happening with them, feel free to post up the latest about
them, and give us a report down the road. I know you guys, as
well as so many here really enjoy keeping up your favorite sports,
so have fun, and keep us updated if you like. 馃槈

Chaz, as #four said, you guys are still in it. 馃檪..But if you are not
planning on watching it, are there any other sports you follow?
Or just enjoy watching? How about the Diamondbacks? Do you
keep up with them?

Cannot thank all of you enough for your thoughts, and reports !!!

I've played basketball most of my life, but the NBA has become a league of spoiled primadonnas that care only about being paid.

The NBA has been dead to me since Jordan retired. IMO no other player since then could hold his jock strap, including the biggest a-hole of them all.......LaBron.

David, this sounds eerily similar to what Frans was saying about his
football players. 馃槸馃槈It seems like a lot of the athletes have gotten
almost too big, and too famous. To the point where they don't seem
to focus on whatever sport they play, their fans, or winning in a lot of
cases either.

How about another sport? Or game? Anything else float your boat?
Or is something you enjoy? Or have been paying attention to lately?

In any case, thanks a bunch for your two cents !!!

Appears pretty much the case for most top paying sporting codes. It's huge business and all about $$$ for owners and players

It鈥檚 all true I guess Steve, and even though we might like
looking at sports as just sports, and see the fun, and cool
rivalries, it鈥檚 become much more actually. And it seems to
be that way world wide too.

Great thread Tom and once again thanks for being the absolute nicest and genuine mod of anything ever! I myself enjoy most sports, but I cannot wait for August 12th. That is the opening of preseason for American football and all I can say is GO COLTS!!!
I鈥檓 from Indiana originally and we had no hockey or baseball teams and our Pacers were led by the master of self-congratulatory floppage Reggie Miller whom I couldn鈥檛 stand.
On Sundays in the fall, I bleed blue for the 鈥榮hoe.

I鈥檝e also been enjoying the qualifying for the Olympics. Will be odd to go from some spectators in the stands, to none at the proper games though

On Sunday, Tadej Pogacar (aka Little Cannibal) became the youngest rider (at 22) to win two Tour de France titles in a row!

Plus, Mark Cavendish tied the great Eddy Mercx for 34 Tour de France stage wins and took the green jersey.

Indeed! And the same (right picture) goes for motorcycle racers to whom a broken collarbone or one or two fingers is just an inconvenience. Acting out the final scene from 'The Dying Swan' is more in line with the picture on the left . But not all are the same of course.
