Have you ever manually set the date on a watch in the AM and then at noon the date changes forward?
How do you know when you set the date if it is going to roll over at noon or midnight?

normally -if we're talkin automatics now

i will wind or shake the watch (most Seiko's dont wind)

then before i set the time - i rotate the hands all the way around until the date changes -and i stop at either 6 am or 6 pm - then i change the date to the proper date -then i set the time

i do this with every automatic that i'm going to wear -to ensure i am not changeing the date during the restricted period (9 pm to 3 am) so as not to damage the movement

I guess I have been doing it "right" then. I started doing the same thing a while back. Figured it was the only way to ensure that it was set correctly.
I was in a hurry yesterday and did not do this and of course this morning the watch date is still on yesterday.....figured there might be an actual or specific way to determine where the date is without manually advancing it.

Thanks Guys, guess I'll just keep on keeping on:b

I just had to do that this morning with one of my automatics I am wearing. I always change the date to the day BEFORE whatever today is and then manually turn the time to make it change to the time today. That way I know I am on the right time and AM or PM.

I do the same as Arnie.....I advance it one day to the correct date and am/pm.

What I normally do is if the date is only one day behind I roll the hands around the dial until I get to the next day. If I am several days behind then I will use the normal date change for the date until I am at the day before. At that point I start at 12:00 and keep roiling until I reach the date wanted. This way your rolling the hands around the watch either once or twice. You will always know AM from PM this way.

Just remember, when using the date quickset feature. Be careful of the no-no hours so you don't mess up your movement.
