The ship was built in 1914 and still carries an engine although the inside is converted to make it into a home. The name 'Verandering' means 'Change'.
o_O:cool: Amazing, as well as incredibly cool Frans, wow ! :D I felt that the
ship was older, but then at the same time it looks really sleek, or so far
ahead of it's time, so thanks so much for the insight !!! 🥇

Man oh man, and could there be a nicer 'house' boat? ..It must be just
wonderful to sail on such a boat, or to even live on such a boat. 🌞Oh,
and yet another BIG thank you on the meaning of 'Verandering' as well
here sir !!!

Thank you, thank you !!! :giggle:

Oh wow Frans, I always love the shots of the water, and how you have the
most beautiful canals there, all with the coolest boats like this ! :D:cool:(y)

And so often you might here me talk about, or say that things are always
like art, like a picture, or painting, but it's true ! ✨If I lived there, or maybe
was walking, or biking by, I would so much be appreciating everything. :)
I mean it doesn't matter what it might be really. ..It could be the people,
architecture, homes, or buildings, the city, or the countryside, boats like
this, the epic waterways, and just history to tell the truth. It's all pretty
outstanding, and I think that people should always be stopping to smell
the roses in Rotterdam. In the entire country sir. ;)

And if I may say, the boat that is in focus here looks so amazing, so so
impressive, and I can see a lot of the other boats have a similar feel to
them as well. Yowza, too cool Frans, and may I ask, about how old is
that boat? ..Or how old are some of them around it? ..In any case, have
to thank you for this great pic, this continuous terrific tour of everything
Frans !!!

So so nice Frans, and I would be doing laps all day long, or night long
around that pond, or that whole area sir ! ;)🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️:D It's so beautiful
that I would have to make sure I keep my eyes on the road, as I know
that I would be staring at so many things actually. lol From the water
itself, as well as fountains, to the surrounding land, landscaping, as
well as amazing buildings. I would have to concentrate on riding and
pedaling. :) And then I imagine, or would hope to maybe get into a
conversation with a few people as well of course. (y)

The whole area looks like a park, or like living in a wonderful park Frans,
and it must be just THE best to see every single day in your home town ! 🌟
Very much want to thank you this day, or now night for sharing sir !!!

Beautiful Frans, and you really can get a feel for the city in this one,
or at least a feel for how vast it is. :D:) Plus there's this real mix
of green in with all of the buildings that I love. ..It's not just a lot of
cement, and asphault, with coldness or a lack of personality. It's so
full of personality that it is overflowing I feel, and I can never really
get enough. :giggle: As I try to look into every nook and cranny within
all of your photos, as well as try to feel as if I am there. And to be
honest, it is a real joy just knowing that such a place exists that is
full of such exceptional people. ✨;)

By the way, I am always enamored with all of the water, or waterways
you have there. And not just that, but the amazing way your country
has molded water, as well as the land around it. It's magnificent, or
magical to be more accurate. Thanks an absolute bunch for always
sharing your hometown with us Frans !!!

What a picture Frans, wow, and it of course doesn't matter if it is not your
picture or not, it is still terrific ! ;)(y)(y)As I look at it I am loving so many
things to tell the truth that it's very tough figuring what to say first. But I
always love how your country is so amazing at having the past meet up,
or blend together with the present. 🏆🥇You don't knock down, or end
up demolishing older buildings when constructing new homes, or new
buildings. But rather combine the new with the classic, and I just can't
get enough of that way of thinking. Not to mention the fact that it does
not matter if it is older, or newer, the ideas, innovation, as well as the
character is off the charts incredible no matter what. :D

On top of the beauty of past and present, you have the beauty of nature
all around in the water ways, as well as the land/islands of beauty which
sit atop. ;) That is incredible, because one can imagine the engineering,
that goes into having such buildings standing basically right on the water
like this. It's simply astonishing to see ! Both the beauty within what we
see on land, and water. But also within the talent, as well as imagination
of those responsible for all of the homes, and buildings there sir. Wow,
just wow, thanks so much for sharing as always Frans !!!

Yes, it is very nice, especially in the evenings. That white container is an enclosure for an electronic thermometer. A thermometer hut. It shields it from wind and direct sunlight to obtain a more accurate and consistent reading. It is connected to an app which collects up to one year of data. I had a weather station but over the course of many years the wind, UV and rain meter broke down and I never replaced it but dismantled it all.
;) I imagine that it is pretty incredible, the nights, along with days to be
honest Frans. (y)(y) One could imagine checking out the stars, listening
to music, or watching it rain or even snow. And wow, I got that sort of right
with the thermometer you have. :giggle: Those thermometers, as well as the
weather stations and the like are great, but you are right, they don't seem
to be made to last. Nevertheless, it's cool to see that you are into such
things as well, and basically have a weather headquarters there to go
along with everything else. 🌞☔⚡⛄:D

THX a ton for all of the information, as well as insight !!!

I have to say that is one incredibly cool patio Frans !🥇🏆

Honestly, you have it all right there right?! :) It's like a perfect slice
of paradise, and besides the epic view you have, there is all you need
for the perfect summer day, or night. 🌞🌙And it has to be a real joy
no matter the season to tell the truth. As I imagine the sites, and also
sounds of any time in Rotterdam. But one can see that things are
really beautiful ths time of year for sure. And I love all of the things
you have out on your patio too by the way. It's like a room inside
your home right? You've got lamps, rugs, plants, decorations, and
then an oven, or in this case, a grill ! 🍗🥩🍔🌽🍅🥦🍍

Oh, and I see some what looks like a rain gauge, or wind gauge or
maybe weather station up top near the cool green light. As well as
a very nice umbrella. :D It's all too cool Frans, as well as really
really beautiful, and I of course thank you for taking the time to
share Frans !!!

Amazing Frans, and I just love seeing the old pictures like this honestly ! :D:)

It's wonderful for multiple reasons too right? Because you get to travel
back in time, as well as remember things during a more quie,t all be it
incredibly dynamic time if you ask me. ✨🌞Because evidently just as
within the 'what's old is new again' thread, the new parts added are
meant to pay tribute to the old, as well as continue the look, as well as
spirit of the buildings right? :D I mean I know that a lot of times that
buildings can be knocked down, and demolished. So seeing that all of
you over there not only appreciate the past, but add to it is awesome,
absolutely awesome sir ! 🏆

Thank you so so much for sharing these glimpses through time of things
in 'your hometown' sir !!!

That last comment is priceless my friend because I never thought of it this way. Yes, I live right next to the river Rotterdam was named after. You know what they say: the cobbler's children go barefoot.
(y)(y) I guess it's actually true right Frans? :giggle: You live right in the heart,
or right at least 'part' of the meaning behind your hometown. It's actually
phenomenal when you think about it, and like I said meaningful in a lot of
different ways. :D;)

Yep, and just with my iPhone. The music pavilion was rescued from demolition many years ago. It used to be higher, with a basement below where musical (brass) instruments were kept. Free concerts were given every month or so but that is way, way back in time. (40 years plus or more).

The small river or stream is the Rotte, and that's what Rotterdam is named after. A dam in the Rotte. I live ca. 500 meters back, looking out on the same river.
Well, you take terrific pictures sir, and thank goodness for the iPhone for
helping you out ! (y);) ..It still takes talent I think to take a beautiful pic,
and it is also nice to have something beautiful to take pictures of Frans !
Which you have an abundance of in Rodderdam. ✨

That is so fantastic that the pavilion was rescued like that by the way.
I mean it is wonderful, and why would anyone even think of knocking
it down right? And it brings so much spirit, or charm to the area.

They should definitely have those concerts there this summer ! 🌞Oh,
and living right next to the river your hometown is named after?! Well,
you know what that is right? ..Priceless ! :D ;) Thanks so much sir !!!

So beautiful Frans, yowzers, and you took these ?! :D(y)(y)A lot of
times you might see me say that all of the pictures are like post cards,
or paintings, but it is true, and these pictures here look incredible ! :)
Not to mention look as if they could be hung on a wall, or sent in the
mail to someone, as they are that great ! 🏆And I can't get enough of
just the feel of everything honestly. From the architecture, to trees,
water, skies, and landscape, to even the way there are the mix of past
and present with the benches, and what look like super modern seats
or chairs in the park there. ✨

Boy oh boy, it looks like another stunning time in Rotterdam ! 🌞I could
stare all day long at that fountain, which by the way, also looks like it is
creating a piece of art within the air, and water of course. :) Very much
want to thank you for taking, as well as sharing these with us Frans !!!

Holy cow Frans, who says we can't go back in time, or time travel?! :D

It's crazy fun seeing how the character of your hometown has always
existed, yet changed in some pretty amazing ways too right? 🌞(y)I
am noticing that today, it seems like there are literally more trees, as
well as epic landscaping, and there are of course new homes. Along
with buildings which add a modern feel to an iconic town. :) Oh, and
how about the bikes? You see a lot of those back then, but also today !
It's wonderful, as are all of the cars sir. ;) As this post could also be
over in Car Lust as well. :) It's that dynamic, and you have to love
seeing all of the people. Wow, just wow, 'that' is the real spirit of your
hometown Frans, the people ! ✨

As always I cannot thank you enough for showing us around my friend !!!
And for taking us in this case, back in time. :)

That is too funny with the area code thing Frans, too good ! :giggle:

It's funny how cities, or towns within the same country have that rivalry
isn't it? ..In a way, it's similar to the rivalry sports teams, or schools of
cities, and towns will have. ..But in this case, I imagine even those in
Amsterdam have to admit that Rotterdam, as well as your City Hall here
is majestic ! ✨:D In general, I think any building, house, or creation
of any kind is something that everyone in your country should be very
proud of, and very appreciative of. And in reality realize that any town
or city is in essence part of the next. Part of the same beautiful place,
and it could be said for any country I guess too.

But in this case, I stare at your City Hall in awe here, as it looks like it
could be the main capitol building in the Netherlands. 🌟But then I
guess the '020's would get upset over that. :giggle: ..It certainly is very
beautiful Frans, and I will of course thank you for always sharing
such things with us !!!

It's so true everything you are saying sir. (y);) I think some times I do
maybe get a bit too sentmental, and think maybe the noew could exist
with the past. But in this case, I guess the past stays in the past. And
with the not being enough interest, I think that is the key, because in
reality there are almost too many places to get that ice cream. :giggle: Or
anything else one may wish for nowadays right? As you can go to a
store, a shop, heck even order food to your home. It's sort of a real
microcosm of everything honestly, and I thank you for shedding even
more light on it all Frans !!!

They started in 1879 en closed shop in 1968.
It sounds like they had an epic run sir, wow ! o_O:)(y)

Still would be fun to see someone at least try to make the ice cream
the way that they did though right? That alone would pay tribute or
homage to them in a really cool, as well as meaningful way.

Thanks so much for the insight on this !!! 🍦

Frans, that is incredibly cool, and I wonder how long they were in business. 🍦:D
So many times there is a business like this that is around forever, but then
the kids don't take the reins. I am wondering if that is what happens, or had
happened and why they aren't still around in some fashion. Or even have
multiple shops today. (y)..It just sounds like it was a special, or iconic place,
and one often wonders why places that were so great don't stay around
right? ;) Honestly is probably wishful thinking on my part, but maybe in
the future someone will resurrect the name, as well as unique formula that
they had for the ice cream. :)

Very much wishing to thank you for sharing this with us !!! ..It literally is cool. 🍦

Incredible Frans, and may I say that the trams look spotless, and super sharp ! o_O
Seriously, if you didn't tell us that they were from 1929-31 one would think they
were new. :D✨It says something about the design to begin with, but also how
they are evidently taken care of too sir ! 🥇🏆It's actually unbelievable if you ask
me, or incredible as I said above. :giggle: And as you said, it really must be like going
back in time right? Bringing back memories for people fortunate enough to be
around back then. While also being extremely important to younger people also.
Showing them what it was like not that long ago, and giving them the chance to
kind of feel like they are going back in time.

Oh, and I love how the old signs are evidently still up inside of them like that as
well sir. And how about the seats as well as fittings still being in great shape too?
That is a microcosm of the old saying,' they don't make em like that anymore'.
As well as an example of your country taking care, and appreciating the past
on such a high level. :D It's actually very moving to see, or hear about, and I
am not even there sir. I just really think it's great Frans ! ..The spirit, the effort,
the meaning behind keeping these trams going, and in tip top shape.

It's meaningful all the way around, historical, and nostalgic, and it's a joy to see.
And as usual I cannot thank you enough for sharing, for showing us around !!!

Man oh man, what a stunning picture sir ! o_O🌞It's gorgeous the sunset itself
with just the colors within the sky. :D A lot of times in the winter there seem to
be extra colors especially at sunset right? ..With us often seeing new hues of
orange, blue, purple, and even pink also. :)(y)Not that we can't, or don't see
a lot of neat colors at other parts of the year, but this time of the year, there are
really so many hypnotic colors imho. And your shot here really captures the feel
of Rotterdam in winter ! ⛄Of course the city itself looks like a dream too, with
all of the water, buildings, and everything as well. ;)(y)

i swear no matter where the pics are taken, they are always like paintings or
something sir. It's such a joy always having you taking us for tours around
your home town. ..Yowza, thanks so very very much for sharing this with
all of us !!!
