What a fantastic article True ! 😉😎

You can imagine how big of a deal all of this was years back for both
of the brands. And like it said in the article, it was actually unimportant
who was wearing which watch on the mountain, or at the top of the
mountain. But I guess it was important to Rolex, and Smiths. 🙂Just
the whole time surrounding this climbing of Everest must have been
incredible. It's an amazing story actually, as was this whole Rolex
vs. Smiths battle that was going on at the time.

And you know, was thinking how this is one instance where cell phones,
along with social media would have come in handy. ..Seriously, the brands
could have had real time proof of whether or not their watches reached
the summit Right?! Rather than depending on written letters, or articles
to try and piece everything together throughout the years.

No matter how you slice it, it's fascinating, the whole thing sir. Want to
thank you for putting this up for us !!!

I have read articles about this saying A or B made it first, depending on who actually got there (summited) first... Frankly, does it matter really? Both are supposed to have done it. Depending on the circumstances, being first is not actually be an accomplishment, it all depends on the point of view.. Franky, in today's world, I doubt I would be taking a Rolex to the summit....

It's just fun to know about I think honestly Hector, but it definitely has to
have mattered to Smiths, along with Rolex. Along with their fans I would
imagine. 🙂 It kind of feels like it was very much like a sporting event.
Where you had not only this amazing feat by climbing teams happening.
But also a battle between the two watch companies going on in the
background. 🧗‍♂️⌚

It's too bad Smiths doesn't actually make watches anymore come to
think of it. You can just imagine that they would be able to create some
incredible watches today as well.

All of it is really just very interesting, as well as a lot of fun to know about
imho. Thanks again True, and you as well Hector, and Alain for your great
link as well ! 😉
