Question regarding fixing a SS friction clasp on a bracelet

180 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Mrs Wiggles
My wife has a Gevril Avenue of the Americas, it is her favorite watch but the SS bracelet has a friction clasp and no longer is able to remain closed. I think that the metal has slowly deteriorated. I am wondering if anybody has seen this on a friction clasp and if there is a remedy. We are current;y in Thailand and not coming back to the States in a few months so ordering a new clasp is not an option at this time. We are currently going to go to the mall to seek out a watch shop to see if they can size a leather strap but one of the reasons my wife likes the watch is the bracelet.

I have never been a fan of friction clasps, but even some of the better brands use them. I would be tempted to buy a very cheap watch until you get home.
ooph... sorry to hear that... Likely it has to be taken to a watch maker to replace whatever piece is worn out, if that is even possible...
Hard to provide any possible suggestions/assistance without a photo of the clasp in question.

It is quite possible that it may only be an adjustment that is required to remedy it. The friction clasps on some of my watches are as per the link below and the method employed there has worked for me

\Unfortunately for me she has become quite attached to my Hanhart and has highjacked it so I can no longer wear it.

Great, that's an excuse for you to buy another watch
