ok so i have this speedway that i got earlier this year from an online seller

it runs fine in the box BUT once worn -the seconds hand somehow stops and next thing you know it aint working -- bump it alittle and set it down off the wrist and it starts working again -just fine when it's off the wrist?????

so do i need to change the battery on this little dude or is it worse??

hmm... i had this exact problem once... but with an AUTOMATIC, all i had to do was loosen the tightness of the weight and it worked fine... sorry i cant help you

Go ahead and change the battery.

See what happens.

They do some strange things when the battery gets low.

If that doesn't help the it's probably something that a watchmaker needs to look at.

Or let someone else try wearing it. Maybe it just doesn't like you. :lol

actually it's my son's watch -and i did have my wife wear it as well to see if it was him - same effect on her as well

Me too. Battery is a cheap test.

I just put one in my Croton Coin and it didn't help so I packed it up and I will send it out on Monday to Croton. Second time since November 29th 2009.

change the battery.I've got afew of those and thats the symtom when the battery is dying.Also I've never seen one of those movements break.

I doubt that it's the battery based upon what you wrote. The erratic nature of a dying battery should be somewhat uniform whether it's on the wrist or in a box.

I guess that changing the battery is a necessary step, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a battery issue.
