Watches get engraved on the back sometimes. Sometimes for ownership (initials engraved), sometimes for gifting ressons (to ____ love,) and oft times as an incentive, reward or retirement. I like these kind of watches as they tell a story. I have a few I’ll post here. Can you imagine how much life insurance you had to sell to get the Hamilton??? Post yours, they’re interesting.

This is such a neat idea for a thread Gary ! 😮🤯:D

Having a watch engraved really does seem like it would add even
more meaning, as well as great stories. And would add even more
charm to watches that already are extraordinary in your case. 😎;)
Believe it or not though, I actually do not have an engraved watch. 🙁
Can't remember ever getting one when I was a kid, and haven't gotten
one lately unfortunately sir.

Although, since I have gotten into vintage watches, I often will see
that a watch being sold on ebay has at times had engravings that
are on them.

What a terrific topic sir !!!

Here’s a self engraved watch by a US Navy man denoting ownership. Back of a Zodiac triple date moon phase watch.

Beautiful Gary ! :)(y)(y)So some of these watches were actually
picked up second hand with the engravings? ..That makes these
already exceptional watches that much more unique, as well as
special to tell the truth. 😎😎

They are like one of kind special editions when you think about it ! 😉
Want to thank you for sharing all of these with us !!!

That really IS sir ! 😎😀As if it wasn't enough that the watch itself
wasn't ridiculously nice, and like a snapshot in time. But then there
is that cool message that's engraved on the case-back ! 🤯😵

This is so neat to see Gary. Both the watch, AND the thread !!

THX once again !!!

I have a really old (read 1920s) silver cased watch with an engraving on it, it was a gift to someone on Christmas. Like with most vintage watches, it's kind of exciting and scary to own something that someone else cherished and wore as part of their every day life.

From the Kitchen Crew, I'd like to know the story behind this wonderful gift.
Interesting topic G, I have one that's a gold (plated) Bulova it belonged to a man that retired from the US Postal Service, I think it has a USPS logo but I don't recall if it's engraved. I'll dig it out and check.

Am really enjoying seeing all of these Gary ! :Do_O:cool:

You have more amazing engraved watches, than a lot of people
have regular watches. 🤯🙂And it's yet another thing that makes
this hobby, and watches so extraordinary when you think about it.
It isn't just about telling time with us right sir?! ..It's much much more
than that. 😉

Thank you sir !!!

Here’s an Accutron that was given as a reward. Pioneer is a seed company in the farm belt.

Ooh nice, so it has a one of a kind case-back, but also dial sir ! 😮😀

Talk about a special, or very limited edition right?! 😎😉There most
likely isn't another watch like this, and even if there is, the patina on
the dial sets it apart even further. (y)(y)

This is such a treat to see Gary. Thx a lot !!!

You have the neat engraving, but also sleek almost space age
feel with this one here. Plus it's eye-catchingly elegant as well ! :)(y)

This is a Selco presentation watch as opposed to being an advertising watch. Selco specializes in award watches. This is a gold plated Swiss automatic. That’s a lot of seltzer water.
