Moderators, I apologize for starting a new thread and in the general forum instead of the feedback forum. Since most members read the original thread but may not keep up with all the responses, I thought it only fair to Brett to make sure this gets maximum exposure.
This is the update I posted at WG:
Final Update - Brett has contacted me and he was indeed on vacation and he had no way of knowing the watch was delivered. Once he found this out he messaged me just as soon as he could and he paid for the watch right away. I would like to apologize to Brett for jumping the gun on this. I should have known there was a good explanation. So please, if Brett offers to deal with you, do it with confidence.
Everybody would be wise to learn from my mistake as well...if a deal seems to go south, give it a little more time and make sure you have exhausted all ways to get all the facts first instead of jumping to fast conclusions as I did...not only did I make an ***** of myself, but came pretty close to ruining a great guys reputation. Again Brett, I am very sorry.
Very nice of you to apoligize publicly. I have no problem with it being in this section.
Moral of the story in my opinion is still
1) do not send a watch before you have received payment and
2) don't refund until all tracking/research/communication has actual happened.
This way both sides of the transaction have the same protection and piece of mind about everything.
I have to say I am very happy he was on vacation. I also have to say you didn't jump the gun...Especially with what has been going on lately. So don't feel so bad and it shows that you are a man to publicly apologize and I am glad you did not get ripped off. No harm done brutha...
I've been watching this one closely Richard and I'm glad that it worked out well. I don't agree that you made an a-hole of yourself. You saw that he was online after the watch had been delivered and that was a natural conclusion to draw. You didn't spread the guy and you qualified your post by stating what info you had at the time. There was no character assassination that I saw. Anyway, I've read your posts for a long time and you're definitely one of the good guys. I went through some crap a few months back and I can certainly understand your concerns with the direction that this transaction seemed to be heading.
All aspects of this hobby is a learning experience. I've been collecting over 2 yrs now and I'm still learning. When shipping USPS the time they list are only estimates. I can understand how you must have been feeling and I'm sure all of us would be thinking the same as you. Your public apology shows that you are a person with good morals and character. Do not beat yourself up over this. It worked out for the best for all parties involved. You should be commended for your action.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could
be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
