Hello, I'm from Switzerland and am feeling inspired by all the awesome clocks. I have acquired a couple non-functional ones I want to fix up.

My current project is a quartz pocket watch that probably just needs a new battery. The box says Dakota Watch Company and the face says Berenger, but I haven't been able to find any further information.

It's a hunter case without access from the back. I've managed to snap the crystal out and remove the plastic holder, so the movement is floating. However, I can't figure out how to remove the stem so that I can pop the darn thing out.

The movement is pretty loose and I can get tweezers under it with no problem. I was feeling around for a button or something to release the stem but I couldn't feel anything obvious.

\\

Does anyone have any advice on freeing the stem? Or additional info about the watch? The Dakota website only features their current line and they seem too minor to feature in the watch databases I've found.

Thanks!

The back should pop off. There is usually a very small lip or gap in the seam the will allow you to pop it off. You should not have to open it from the front like that. Steve

Indeed, once I looked closer there was a tiny indent to open the back. It's amazing how they hide the seem so precisely!

It's a little sad to see a boring quartz movement after looking at so many beautiful mechanical movements on this forum.

Boring, yes, but at least the movement is a decent one, used in a lot of Swiss Quartz watches including Victorinox. Just be careful not to hit the coil when removing the battery. I’ve had to change a lot of them out when repairing used ones I’ve bought. Steve
