Marie Osmond's son commits suicide

LOS ANGELES -- Marie Osmond's 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide Friday night.
People magazine reports that Blosil leapt to his death from his apartment in Los Angeles around 9 p.m. He left a note explaining his intention to commit suicide because of a lengthy battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling like he could never fit in.
Blosil has had a troubled history, including spending time in a rehabilitation facility in 2007 at the age of 16. By March of 2009, however, Osmond told People magazine he seemed to be turning his life around, finishing his last year of high school with a 3.9 GPA and "looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges."
Blosil is one of eight children Osmond has raised with ex-husband Brian Blosil.

Terrible.....people with depression need much better care and attention. Our system does not allow for them to get the help they need and even those that are coming from wealthy families suffer the same fate many times. Terrible!

Man, is this a trend or something? This is the second "star" that has committed suicide in as many weeks. Since I work in the depression market, I can tell you that for some people depression is a devastating disease. There are people that have such severe depression that they resort to doing electro-shock therapy to try to make things better! If that doesn't do anything then there really isn't much else that can be done! My psychiatrists have told me stories of some of their patients and what they are going thru and I'll tell ya, be VERY glad you aren't in the same situation that they are in 'cause it's truly UGLY. Bottom line is, if you have been feeling depressed for more than a few weeks, get in to see your doctor because there's a ton of newer medicines that can really help. The WORST thing you can do is let it go and think you can do it on your own. Part of the problem with depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain and these meds can help by basically replacing more of the needed chemicals.
