I'm involved in several Kickstarter projects. I like the idea (although less so lately) because it gives me the opportunity to acquire stuff that's not readily available elsewhere. I'm aware of the slight risks involved but take that for granted.

Here are the projects that I'm involved in and have already received:

In the pipeline:

- Earin, the world's smallest wireless earphones;
- Znaps, a magnetic adapter for portable devices. In my case our iPhones, it emulates the MagSafe principle;
- Reissue of the 1975 NASA graphics Standard Manual;
- Swivel KeyWallet, holds 6 keys in a compact elegant package.

Received:

- Penxo, the most minimalistic pencil lead holder;
- KANO, a computer anyone can make.

Failed project:

Anonabox, money refunded.

My choice of projects is a reflection of who I am to a certain extend. Are there any Freeks who also are Kickstarter backers and which project(s) do you back?

I've been tempted to fund KS projects time and time again, but the long wait for the physical product has often given me cold feet. However, I have been known to give to causes that are near and dear to me through GoFundMe.

I'm already flying a Phantom 3 quadcopter. It's amazing the video you can get. The lily should be over the top awesome.

In my over-regulated country flying a drone without a permit is no longer allowed. And for flying within city limits and closer than 150m to buildings you need to be a licensed drone operator. Well, I kinda understand this as some numb skulls tried to fly their drones next to Amsterdam Airport, one of the biggest hubs in Europe

I've been tempted to back a project. But I am too scared. I don't want to lose money all the projects I have ever watched though made it big. For example the clip on photo lens for the iPhone olgipro I think it was called basically it has 3 lenses in one device. Real cool and near. Now they sell for about $80-$100.

I've only backed one campaign, which was hosted on Indigogo.

It was the William Shatner "Passages" watch, by E'gard Watch Company.

The watch was a few months overdue, but I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on, and I wear it almost every day. There were a couple campaign promises that didn't come through (a limited edition photo of Shatner; and video footage documenting how the whole campaign came to be). But the watch was the most important thing, and it was a great deal: I never could've afforded it at the MSRP.

I'd probably back another campaign, if the product and price are right.
