No...nothing is scratch proof. Sapphire is more scratch resistant than the Hardlex. The Hardlex is more shatter resistant than Sapphire

Nothing is ""scratchproof".

Hardlex is just Seiko's proprietary mineral crystal and is pretty scratch and shatter resistant, but not nearly as resistant as sapphire.

I've had dozens of Seikos with Hardlex and have yet to get a serious scratch on any of them. That being said, I've had/have quite a few watches with sapphire and have never scratched them at all.

I guess one must ask if choosing, which is more likely to occur, a scratch or a shatter.
For me, a scratch for sure.

I can show you my SKXA33 if you want to see how scratch proof Hardlex is. The scratches on it can catch a fingernail if you run it over. That being said, it's my beater and has taken lots of knocks and hasn't shattered.
