FWIW, I LOVE Column-Wheel Chrono (CWC) Movements ...
...
... (mostly) because, like a fine orator, they're incredibly 'articulate' & 'precise!' ...
... and ALSO because, well, ... I'm LUCKY enough to own a couple! ... German-eZe 'n Swiss-eZe! ...
...

... who says watches don't have a 'soul?' ... :madd

In fact, because of their tight tolerances, 'demanding' fit & finish, and (resulting) high production costs, ...
... CWC's are (now) almost-entirely restricted to the rarified domain of high-end 'manufactures', ...
... like A. Lange, Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Chopard, G-P, Hublot, Omega, Patek Philippe, Zenith, & Glashutte ...

Interestingly, Swiss ETA has 'realized' the intrinsic value that true horologists (with big buckZ!) place on CWC's ...
... and are now slowly 'rolling out' their own version; i.e., the Valgranges A08.231, ...
... which is currently (mostly) limited to Longines new CWC (as their Cal. L688-2), ...
... but will shortly be available in new products from Hamilton, etc., ...

(Please NOTE the 'Castellated Column-Wheel' - in BLUE! - that's the Hallmark of this design! -
) [/ALIGN]______________________________________

Regardless, in an effort to 'be all I can be" and learn all I can about watches, ...
... my 'intensive survey of the web' has 'unveiled' some rather interesting 'facts', not the least of which is ...
... that some knowledgeable horologists refer to the ETA 2894 as a "Column-Wheel" Chronograph!" ...
... while others insist it's nothing more or less than a 'cam-lever' mech. like the 'loose-fit' Valjoux 7750, ...
... aka the "some-dirt-won't-hurt" AK-47 of Chrono's! ...

And, since it has been 'alleged' that the 2894 firmly 'ensconced' in my Invicta "Sea Vulture" IS REALLY a CWC,, ...

... and, since a picture is (sometimes) worth a '1000 words', ...
... let me 'interject' the following image of the bottom plate from an ETA 2894 module ...
... with HUGE KUDOS to Msr. 'SuitbertW' for ALL of his research - and his post on "PuristsPro!" ...

Man, I don't know about the rest of you, but, IMHO, ...
... that 'Castellated Mechanism' on the ETA 2894 bottom-plate certainly looks like a Column-Wheel to me!!! ...
... IF anyone/anywhere has ANY opinion of this - I'd LOVE to hear it! - THANKS ~
