Interestingly, Swiss ETA has 'realized' the intrinsic value that true horologists (with big buckZ!) place on CWC's ...

... and are now slowly 'rolling out' their own version; i.e., the Valgranges A08.231, ... ​

... which is currently (mostly) limited to Longines new CWC (as their Cal. L688-2), ... ​

... but will shortly be available in new products from Hamilton, etc., ...

From what I'm seeing in the OP, it sure looks like a column wheel design to me.
