Do you hold the door for women ?...Pull out her chair as she is being seated ?...Adhere to the old adage, "ladies before gentlemen" ?...OR...Do you believe that after spending years trying to be heard while saying we want to be treated as strong, capable & independant women that we no longer deserve those courtesies & chivalry is, in fact, dead and we killed it.

I'm still old school. I think women still like a man to act that way for the most part.

You would be absolutely correct in thinking that.

I don't believe that chivalry is quite dead, yet. I still do, as I was taught . . . open doors, pull out the chair, ladies before gents, etc. :)

Being an old guy, I am seriously "old school". So chivalry does apply here.

I do think however that women are doing a great job to put it to rest! So yes, if it dies, it's your fault!

That's what I'm afraid of...We've struggled for so long to be taken seriously as an equal that all the lovely aspects of being a feminine, soft woman have been lost because we've had to be so freakin' tuff in order to be heard.

I was raised the right way by my parents and I'm forever grateful for that!! With me chivalry is not dead by any streatch of the imagination. I hold open doors, stand when a woman either sits or gets up from a table(no guy does this any more), allows women to go first and all the other things we are supposed to do. The real problem I have is when this is done, MOST women won't even acknowledge the chivalrous act by the man and that pisses me off. That is most common when a door is help open for a woman! So, if a woman doesn't say anything when I hold open a door, I simply say "Your welcome" and go about my day. I have to say the women's lib movement is a bunch of crap and it has led to men not doing what they are really supposed to do anymore!

There are always casualties and sacrifices when trying to accomplish such a goal. I do think that for the femmes it is worth it. And remember, I said "if it dies". I really don't think that it will. Guys are still being taught to be gentlemen in good homes. Just the way it is. Now the rest?? They would'a never been gentlemen anyway. JMO.

I am an old-school Latin Guy -what do you think??

although -some women (In NYC) dont appreciate it - alot are still surprised when such an act is commited(used to be commonplace).

funny thing is -recently i had a lady (young) hold the door for me - i think she was flirting with me!! -it felt kinda odd having a girl do that for a guy - she was all smiles doing it and winked at me - se was cute too!!

too bad i'm done in that area - 10-15 yrs ago i woulda - ohh well lets not go there!!! :%

Not dead here Duchess. I hold the door open all the time. Hell, I do it for men too. At times though, I wish I hadn't held the door for some some a-hole, male or female, that didn't have the common courtesy to say thanks or just simply acknowledge me.

Well I have too say that even though I was brought up this way, I dont do it anymore. Gina is the single most independent women I have ever met, although very lady like 9 out of 10 times she is too the car or a door before me and opens it up and goes. So yes she has killed it for me accept I will always hold the door or help anyway I can for seniors.

Yes i hold the door open for women, i believe women have become more independent and that is sexy,i can clean the house up the best a man can, but my wife can somehow make it look better, she is better at math but i shoot a gun better than her, she fills out a black dress better than i can, LOL !!!!!!!!!! but its a competition with her on everything even mechanical things and around the house and if you look at the stastics more women are working than men and making more money to and doing Chivalry thinks its 50/50 some women like it and some women could care less.

. . . not in my world. Alive and well!!!!

I told my daughter when she started dating, that any guy who didn't open her door on the car when he picked her up was not a gentleman and to turn around and head back to the house. She took it literally and DID!!!! Came right back in and never said a word!!!! Good girl that one.

Same here, or when you hold the door open for one person and end up holding it open for like 20..
