Petrol lighter :D My brother, knowing I like knick-knacks like these, gave it to me while I visited him. The previous owner polished the gold plating off but I'll try to get it back to former glory. As you can see, it's the Art Deco 'stream line' version:

It turns out to be that Thorens started out making lighters and they continued doing so until 1964. But they are most famous for their record players of course. And my name ends with an S :D:) (Z is German).

So this is cool in multiple ways then Frans !;) Have to admit
that I did not know about the history of Thorens sir. So it’s doubly
cool, and then the ending in an S along with your name theme is
really neat also. Thanks a lot for the show Frans, along with the
lesson !!! (y)(y)

That is a lovely art deco lighter for sure. Does it work?

Oddly enough, the one in the photo below was recently sold on a local auction site and the seller mentioned that it had a music box built in

My first thought when I saw the thread title was turntable.

I have yet to try it. It's on a long 'to do' list. Before my brother gave me this I didn't even know Thorens started out a a manufacturer of things like lighters and not turntables.
