I think we can agree that people's opinions differ, and that some people go to places to escape, but not everyone does it in the same way.
This is also the part of the forum specifically set aside for you (or anyone else) to post about non-watch related subjects, and here specifically about World News (The Lounge > Stuff That Does Not Go Anywhere Else > World News). Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's a word association thread, sometimes it's not so much fun. This is one of those "not so much fun" threads.
We have a no politics rule on the forum, but what Wrascal wrote is not about politics, rather about the sadness (for both sides) of what is a current world event, and that one country is repeating the mistakes that another country made 50 years ago (which is a reflection on history and some people's inability to learn from history).
So honestly, I do not see anything wrong with him posting this message here. I think it is a sentiment that many visitors echo. Uncomfortable as the subject may be.
From a personal side, I live only two hours away by plane from what is happening, within conventional airplane bombing distance, and I can tell you, most of Europe is worried sick but are pulling the British "stiff upper lip" and telling themselves "keep calm and carry on". It's all we can do aside from hoping this does not devolve into something worse. And with recent news from the middle east, it seems as if some people are trying to get it to kick off on a larger scale. That's not politics, that's world news.
