And admittedly it's a highly biased political statement:
REF: Putin vs Ukraine

My deepest sympathies go to the Ukrainians - but also to the numerous sacrificed Russian soldiers, all victims of Putin.
While difficult to admit I can not hate these Russian pawns; my condolences go to their families.

I actually don't think it's really political Wrascal. But rather is more
just an honest to goodness human commonsensical view of things.
One which I bet most every one of us can agree on. Or do agree on.
In fact, just imagine how Russia along with Ukraine would get along
with each other without controlling power hungry leaders at the
helm. ..Honestly, If that were actually the case, I don't think there
would have been one single second of war this year there. Or one
lost life.

It's the same thing for the rest of the world as well I think. Because
for the most part, it's a lot of the leaders that look for trouble. Or
might have plans to make trouble. However, I think the people in all
of the countries would rather just simply be friends, or in a lot of
cases, family, and actually get along with one another.

Want to honestly thank you again for talking about all of this sir ! ..I
know it's something that we all hear about all of the time. But don't
always share our thoughts on. So thanks very much once again !

THAT was our dirty war - and it took public opinion to shut it down.
Only dishonor came from it.

Between 347 and 504 unarmed people were killed by U.S. Army soldiers

You overlooked the Peace flag.
You have to remember that watches are an interest and a hobby for everyone here. Some of us drop in for a major shift away from stuff we don’t like or want to deal with. When we get here, we are expecting conversations about watches. Conversations about war would literally be the very last thing anyone here wants to think about, hence forum rules that try to keep the topics related to why the forum exists.

There are tons of forums available to discuss any and all topics. If you’d like help finding forums that give you the opportunity to discuss wars, please PM and I’ll help you. Otherwise, if I were you I would expect non-watch content related to battle, death, and wars to be deleted here.

All that said, my opinion on your post is not one of disgust or disdain. It’s just that I’m not here for that and I don’t want to hear it until I shift to that topic. That’s when I find the right forum.

Respectfully,

-Rob

I think we can agree that people's opinions differ, and that some people go to places to escape, but not everyone does it in the same way.

This is also the part of the forum specifically set aside for you (or anyone else) to post about non-watch related subjects, and here specifically about World News (The Lounge > Stuff That Does Not Go Anywhere Else > World News). Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's a word association thread, sometimes it's not so much fun. This is one of those "not so much fun" threads.

We have a no politics rule on the forum, but what Wrascal wrote is not about politics, rather about the sadness (for both sides) of what is a current world event, and that one country is repeating the mistakes that another country made 50 years ago (which is a reflection on history and some people's inability to learn from history).

So honestly, I do not see anything wrong with him posting this message here. I think it is a sentiment that many visitors echo. Uncomfortable as the subject may be.

From a personal side, I live only two hours away by plane from what is happening, within conventional airplane bombing distance, and I can tell you, most of Europe is worried sick but are pulling the British "stiff upper lip" and telling themselves "keep calm and carry on". It's all we can do aside from hoping this does not devolve into something worse. And with recent news from the middle east, it seems as if some people are trying to get it to kick off on a larger scale. That's not politics, that's world news.

Ok. I’m here for watches and pay $100k a year for the US to burn, sometimes effectively policing the world, and in this case on Ukraine. I’ve also spent more than I’m talking about here on the Red Cross to specifically tend to Ukraine.

I don’t want to hear about it here and if there’s only 20 threads a day on here and some are about war, I’m done. In fact, I’m done I’m done trying to fluff this ghost ship. Bye.

In the best interest of each member, new/old, and paid/free, its best to close this thread from further comments. WHILE I STRONGLY AGREE WITH @FBPB, its mere news, particularly a few members are not comfortable with this part of the news, and I do have to agree with their point of view as well, since this is a pure watch forum. Entertainig diversions have been a bliss in the past posts in regards to cooking, movies, cars, etc, but the reality of war is painful, regardless of who is involved.

Anyway, I am fairly new, and a free member, it is just my opinion. I urge the senior members, owners, administrators, and moderators to do what is best for the whole lot of us.

Good day to you all.
