Have horror films ever had the power to scare you ?...Or, do you see them & think what great special effects, it's just a film after all...I don't watch them anymore...My imagination is such, that by the end of the flick, I have the boogyman right outside my door & I'm petrified with fear...Chances are, if someone were to jokingly fire up a chainsaw, I would climb a wall.

Long story made short for forum use......

I was living in a very large dormitory (300 rooms) at UCONN one summer and I was the only person in the building. It was a freeky place as the elevators would roam on their own, opening and closing, and other odd noises and things. I went with the the summer school students to see The Omen. Horror stuff normally does not bother me. I returned home late and went inside my apartment. The oddest and scariest noises started coming from just outside my door. It was sort of a plop, plop, squish sound. First once, then again, and again. I grabbed a hockey stick and flew open the door..........................................

Only to find that a pipe had broken in the ceiling and the ceiling tiles were falling one by one as they became soaked with water. I called maintenance and they came and fixed the leak. So much for being scared.

PS: I tell this story much better in person......................:%:%:%:%

the modern films rarely scare me these days... to many stupid effects. The only film that was scary lately was paranormal activity, i found that scary cos the house was a little similar to mine.
The only film thats has ever SCARED me was nightmare on elm street... i made the mistake of watching it when i was 13, and we live near an actual place called elm street!!

When I was in high school went to a midnight showing of the Excorsist. After the movie, walked outside and there was the biggest lightning storm I've seen. Kinda did me in on horror movies.

I also saw a midnight showing of the Exorcist in High school, I went home and fell asleep. I remember I was dreaming about the movie at about the time that the picture on the mantle fell off and crashed and broke I woke up. The thing is I had an old 70' glass hanging lamp over my bed where I slept. Well I woke up rolled over and went back to sleep, when I woke up the next morning with blood and glass all over my head. I must have pulled on the chain while I was dreaming and caused it to falldown.Talk about crying for mommy!!! LOL I needed 13 stitches in my head.

"lets all split up in this dark forest for no real reason"

"im going to explore this old creepy house"

"i'll wait over there in that suspicious shadow"

I've always loved horror flicks, since I was a kid. Even though I would get scared, I still enjoyed them and couldn't stop watching. My all time favorite is The Shining- I've seen it a LOT!

Anyway, when I met my wife, one thing that turned me on was that she would watch them with me- not many girls would. Well, I used to get a kick out of dressing up like the killer and would chase her around the house until she begged for mercy. After doing this a bunch of times, she decided not to watch them anymore. I now kick myself everytime I have to watch a terrible romantic comedy that she chose- I used to have it so good-lol- Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

All I know is that I saw this movie on TV when I was a kid. It scared the crap out of me so bad my mom wouldn't let me watch scary stuff for a while. Haven't seen it since. A dubbed in Italian movie.

Probably pretty cheesy by today's standards but it really did a number on me at the time. :%

Caltiki – The Immortal Monster

Caltiki - The Immortal Monster (Italian title: Caltiki - il mostro immortale) is a 1959 Italian horror film directed by Riccardo Freda. The plot concerns a team of archaeologists investigating Mayan ruins who come across a blob-like monster. They manage to destroy it with fire while keeping a sample of the monster. Meanwhile, a comet is due to pass close to the Earth, the same comet which passed near the Earth at the time the Mayan civilization mysteriously collapsed. The film proposes the question "Is there a connection between the monster and the comet?"

My wife and I both love horror. I'm not the type that anything really scare me but every once in a while I do notice my body jerking with certain scenes. But that is only with really well made films, not many of those these days. Other then that it's just a movie.

My wife was freaked out by "The Birds" also when she was young. She still gets freaked out when the birds are migrating through the Houston area. In November and December we have huge flocks of migrating birds in our area....not just thousands of birds...but hundreds of thousands of birds.....they cover the roofs of thebuildings in the industrial park she works in and they areon thepower lines for miles and miles...just thousands and thousands of birds. She gets so freaked out and I just laugh inside...I know better than to laugh at her!!!!

I happen to love birds...as they are one of my favorite things to draw....I do a lot of my wildlife drawings of birds of prey!!! Owls and Eagles being my favorites!!! But Horror movies don't bother me....most are too unrealistic...real death and destruction freak me out!!!
