There's a cool exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of American History on the Mall in DC. When I lived in DC, I would go check out the exhibit at least every other year.
The exhibit helps remind us of a time when USA watches "ruled" over Swiss Made timepieces (and all others), and were the "standard"! Names like Hamilton, Gruen, Waltham, Illinois, Elgin, etc. were commonplace. At this time in history, it would not be unusual to hear "what's a Rolex".
