No silly, not a grail! It's a Marlin!
Wife went to a wedding in Hawaii and I got left at home with the puppy...As a service dog he could have gone but there is a lot of paperwork and anyway he hates weddings. so, I got an itch and Amazoned. Picked up the Casio MVD106 for $38. And guess what, its a really nice piece. Good size for me, a bit bigger than my 009 as you can see from one of the pics. Nicely finished case and it has an easy to read dial which is important for me, and screw down crown , also a 3 year battery life.
My only issue right now is a new strap for it. Seems I'm allergic to the silicone. Amazon said it was a 20mm so I ordered a couple of Natos but seems more like a 22. Anyhow, I wondered what it would be like on a Tan leather? Might look cool ?
Thanks for reading guys, recommend you get one of these for your "beater".
Cheers
Derek

That really is a nice piece. For the price, you really can't go wrong especially since it looks like some of the higher priced offerings from Squale, Steinhart, etc. Congratulations!

Great story. Great watch. Thanks for sharing !

That watch will look great with a million different straps. I just got a 22mm blue leather NATO for $8.95 from Clockworksynergy on eBay. They have a website too and will do 15% off with code "15dis" There were more colors available. I always forget to add the code when I order from them.

I also think green straps always look great with black dials. Natostrapco has some nice green leather NATO/Zulus.

Got to love the Marlins I had a digital version when I was a kid. The digital ones in good condition are very rare, but on reflection the analogue looks far better.

Is Beau the same dog as the one in your avatar, a very handsome animal you have there.

Wear you new Marlin in good health, Gary.

Yes, desk. Beau is my avatar model. Interesting dog..very unusual half Shar Pei and half Oklahoma Streetfighter! His original owner passed with brain cancer and left me the pup in her will. He's now 3 and pretty much fully trained to help me with my PTSD issues. He also learned how to get me a cold can of Stella from the fridge. Interesting aside is that my Mother in law has stopped visiting because her Chinese superstitions state that black dogs are evil/unlucky! So that's an added bonus lol.
He starts Search and Rescue training next week, just for fun and fitness, he has a good nose so I'll see if he enjoys that sort of work.
Oh, and I love this cheapo Casio, the wife won't even notice that on the bank statement (maybe)! I asked her to bring me a Bathy back from Hawaii, let's see how that goes lol.
Cheers
Derek

A dog with beer service skills, he would be welcome at my place anytime. I do love dogs myself and now my wife has retired it's the perfect time for us to get one as I do not like the idea of a dog being left by itself for long periods.
It must be very rewarding to work with them as well, this I would love to do.
All the best with the search and rescue training I am sure Beau will love it.
Please post pics of your Bathy when it arrives.
Have a great weekend.

Desk, All I can advise is that you take a long time and do a lot of research before you decide on a dog. You need to find one that fits into your lifestyle.Large or small, long or short hair, hypoallergenic, acive or sedate?etc
You after a puppy or a rescue? Don't chose the one that comes running up to you at first contact nor the one that shies away. look for the dog that locks eyes on you as if waiting for you to give a command.
If you need anymore info that I can perhaps help with please just PM me.
Cheers mate

Cheers Derek,
That is good advice, I would prefer give a rescue dog a good home. This is definitely something we are not approaching lightly. Had dogs as pets for most of my life and miss it in my life.
Many thanks for the offer of advice it is greatly appreciated. Gary.

Oh nice Derek, holy cow that's a lot of coolness for such an incredible price right there sir ! :smileyface_hand_cla   Amazing !!! Just the all around look of these is great honestly. They have this timeless dive design, with a smooth modern vibe. Even the Marlin on the dial adds an extra jolt of awesomeness ! Yowza, you and Beau picked out a winner here !!! :) Big congratulations Derek ! Hope you really enjoy that !
