Hello all,

This is my first post on the website, though I have been following it a long time. I hope I am posting this correctly, and that I am in the right section:

I just purchased a Seiko prospex diver model ssc017. Thought the black and blue match was great and I have been wanting a diving watch for a while. I purchased it from what I believe to be a reputable website (not sure I can mention it) and received watch very very fast, so they were very good with that.

My issues:
Watch does not look like the watch I have seen in EVERY forum and EVERY website.

In the pictures you can see the watch I received has an "X"(prospex logo)" and diver's 200 m under "SEIKO" instead of "SOLAR" and "chronograph" as it is shown everywhere else.

I called SEIKO and said the movement and model number matched, and thst it might be an international version. I have tried the impossible to see if there was another model with the "X" ok it for the ssc017 but haven't found a single one.

Do you guys think this might be a fake/ replica?

This is the new version of it, and falls under Seiko's international Prospex line. They have added Prospex branding to many older models including some solar, kinetic, and autos.

Enjoy, you have a great model.

I had the exact same watch last year. No prospex logo on the dial as this watch and it's brothers were not positioned as prospex? Could this be an updated version and Seiko put the X there to raise the retail?

Raising the retail price was probably not the main goal, as new and rebranded models usually retail higher than models they were replacing. Also, with the current value of the Yen, they may have raised prices for export models to help make up for it.

Seiko is really pushing their new international Prospex models hard as they FINALLY realized the demand for previously JDM only models.
Yep, I'm already sick of it, especially on the crowns. The machined "S" looked much better, and Prospex was better when it was just on the box.

fantastic watch. i'm certain it's genuine article. wear it well

that new Prospex logo tho...

To those who are still following, I got an email back from Jomashop, quicker than I expected to, asking what the exact issue was. I told the agent the issue and I am now waiting on a response. I know Ganson already made this very clear and everyone that posted also assured the issue, but I want to see what response they might give me...
The funny thing is even on Seiko's Prospex website, they still use an image with the old dial.
Exactly!

I want to see what they tell me, they're probably going to be confused as hell when they check the Prospex Site.

Ganson, is there any site that shows the new face model? I tried looking for one but couldnt find it ANYWHERE.
Yep, you can go to "Watchfreeks.com" and look for this thread. There is a great picture of the new dial at the top post...er...oh...never mind :)

Seriously though, I haven't seen it listed with that dial yet.
Even in Google image search, your pic is the first one I find with the new Prospex branding.
