took the Tuna to lunch. perfect day, 70 degrees and a slight breeze. unfortunately, i didn't have much time to enjoy my visit to Ft. Stark (New Castle, NH). the lighthouse is Whaleback Light. really a big downer going back to work in my windowless office :(

enjoy!

just going thru some archives. ran across some shots from a couple Bob Weir and RatDog shows from back in 2008. one was at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston and the other was at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH. i had rented a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS for both of these shows and it's a helluva lens :c the new MkII is even better and more expensive  the other lens i brought was a superwide Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX which is a really fun lens once you get a hang of the distortion :b

cross filter fun :c

during a powerful performance of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" :c

encore in a Perkins jersey-

NH show-

encore ("One More Saturday Night") he came out in a Rondo jersey. the crowd went berserk :lol

it's amazing i was able to get any useable shots at that point because i was soooo hammered :%:%:%

saturday evening our next door neighbors had a Halloween party for the kids. they really pulled out all the stops with bobbing for apples, a "donut on a string" eating contest, cupcake decorating... all kinds of stuff. big bonfire in the backyard.. my wife got the great idea for a costume for our boy, Andrew- she taped a couple dish towels into a hand-me-down Brady jersey from our nephew (i gotta find him a Ryan Kerrigan jersey :c), hiked up the socks and tucked in his sweatpants. a little mascara eyeblack and the getup is complete-

"Brady rolls out of the pocket, looking for Welker..."

thnx G :)

driving home from the grocery store with the kids i noticed the sunset thru the trees. there's a huge farmhouse (like $1.5M house) that has the barn converted to an art gallery. the owners are very friendly people and have told me in the past that if i ever wanted to stop and shoot pix of their "back yard" it was cool. i stopped just in time for the sun to dip below the horizon :c

i present the York River in York, Maine at sunset-

shot this one on "Black Friday" in Sandbridge, VA (south of VA Beach), but just got around to uploading it. my son decided he wanted to be up at 05:30 and it was my turn to get up with the kids. i was not at all happy until i walked out to the living room and saw this. the photo is exactly how we saw it. my boy (all year and a half of him) was absolutely mesmerized by it. after i shot a few frames, we stood and watched it for about 10 mins before going back in the house. it was so quiet out because there was little wind and the waves were very small. very peaceful and zen-like experience

on a side note- the Washington Redskins are pathetic :(

the bridge between Badger Island (Kittery, ME) and Portsmouth, NH is called the Memorial Bridge as it's a memorial to the soldiers from NH who served our country during WWI. it has been closed to all but foot and bicycle traffic for several months and is slated to be dismantled in the coming weeks and the main span floated out on a barge on Jan 30. it's a scary, rusting hulk of a lift bridge and it will be missed. so much character.

i'll be putting up various photos of the bridge i've shot over the last 8 yrs and in the coming days as it's removed. here's one i shot a week ago-

just realized i haven't posted recently. scored a new Canon EOS 60D a couple weeks back and i'm just starting to really use it. been wicked busy and the menus are totally different from the 6 y/o Rebel XTI i've been shooting with.

i made a quick stop at my favorite summer haunt, "Lobster in the Rough" on Badger Island, Kittery, ME. it's actually the lobster pound for the Weathervane chain of restaurants, but they added a deck and pier seating area with a small bar and limited menu for the summertime. it's not uncommon for you to be sipping a beer on the pier and have a lobster boat pull up and off load. it's only a few hundred yards from the now-burnt USS Miami
