Hello, and thanks in advance for your help! I recently scored a U 706 movement Eco-drive and I am having charing issues. Long story short, I am a part time consultant for a local pawn shop for horological items.
Sitting in the cas for less than $30 was a Pro master JW0010-52E!!!! They know nothing about watches and I assumed this watch sat in a vault for 4-5 months getting no light. It was tagged as having movement problems. Again, I spent little to nothing on this watch!
I read in the manual it needs 3 days solid of charging when dead. A light bulb won't cut it, and the sun isn't out for 72 hours straight. How do I charge this properly? Again, the manual states it needs 3 days of charging or it won't set. As a heads up, it is analog/digital. You can NOT set the analog hands. You set the digital time, then that sets the analog time.
It holds some charge as the LCD turns on, and the second hand moves. Do I need to charge with stem pulled out? Do I need to do an all reset?
I've contacted Citizen and they are willing to fix it for free. I told them I had no recipt or warranty and they were cool with it. The problem is the lady I spoke with said most of the time, the battery is fine and just needs a full charge. I don't want to send it in until I've tried everything I can. This is only my 2nd eco-drive. I'm more of a Bulova/Hamilton guy. I don't know a lot about eco-drives, but I do know a basic light bulb won't cut it when it's dead. As well as if it didn't have a full charge, and sat in a vault for 4 months, it needs a full charge. Agian, the manual states: If the watch is almost dead (2 second dance, XX on LCD) it needs 3 days or more to even set the watch. But once the sun goes down, what do I do?+
Thanks again,
David
