DO YOU HAVE A LIMIT ON HOW MUCH YOU WILL PAY FOR A WATCH? HOW MUCH YOU WILL SPEND IN A YEAR? GO FOR A NUMBER OF WATCHES OR ONE HIGH END? IN MY CASE I HAVE BEEN RETIRED FOR 10 YEARS AND WILL BE 75 IN JULYI HAVE A LIMITED INCOME AND HAVE TO BUDGET. I DONT SPEND OVER $1000.00 FOR A WATCH AND HAVE LIMITED MY SELF TO NO MORE THEN 5 WATCHES A YEAR. SO TO ENJOY MYSELF I HAVE FEW HIGH END WATCHES. WHAT DO YOU DO?

Hi DJ, I enjoy collecting but I have to dicispline myself. It has become part of the hobby for me to wait for the best and hopefully the lowest price. I have just one watch with a Valjoux 7750 movement, a Jaques Lemans Geneve. I purchased it used because it was priced right. I buy new watches usually when they are on sale at some on-line vendor. Occasionally at ShopNBC when I know it is a great timepiece at a price that I probably will not find lower. ....Bob

I don't generally have any limits as to price as long as its a good deal. I have tightened how many rash purchases I make now that I don't buy from the TV watch shows etc which helps lower my spending for sure

I only buy watches now that I would eitherNever sell or have a real tough time parting with. When it comes to pieces over 2k or so I do always try to buy second hand. Great deals that way.

I used to buy anyand all that I liked. Now I am much more discriminating as to my purchases and always look for the best deal I can get. Even if I really like a watch alot, I will/must do some homework first. I just can't spend the $$$ that I used to and so I am trying to go for some pieces that I really want, i.e. The Oris TT1 that James and Brian have, the SO Tourby, the Viperfish (NFW) and someday a Pannerai like Jeff's aka Stratos27. I do still buy some pieces on the deal sites and from Stuhrling on The Shop, but the price must be really right and the watch must really sing to me.

It really depends on the watch and if it sings to me. I have been shopping for a new watch for the past few weeks (No comments George LOL) I'm looking at a higher end piece second hand because like Eric mentioned this is where you can get some good deals if you know what you're doing. I still haven't found that perfect watch yet, but in answer to the question I try to stay within a price range that I can afford from my other watch sells and from my very limited watch fund.

Sometimes I have to go a little higher then planned if I want to get the piece that I desire, but for the most part I stay within my budget.

I have a watch fund....any items I sell go in the fund...gift $$$ goes in the fund and sometimes mad money that I might have goes in as well. I try to stay within the limits of the fund. I will step out as I did when I got the Ball....but it really needs to be something special and not break the bank even if it is special.

I refuse too spend any more then $1200.00 on a watch, thats my limit. I dont care what brand it is, I will NEVER again spend that kind of money on any watch. I have had the high dollar watches, and Still too this day CANT find the value in them.

I would have to agree with Ron as well. One can get some very nice pieces for $1200 or less. If I really liked one and could afford it I'd probably go $1,500, but it would really have to be one that I just couldn't resist and I'd have the $$$ available. The only exception for me ..................... Pannerai. Don't know if I'll ever get one at this point, but it's still "the exception" for me anyway.

Of course if I were back in the $$$$$??? I'd go back to the old "see it, like it, buy it" syndrome. I'm probably better off being limited at this point, LOL!!

Well everyone has limits. I put my self on a 2 watch per year budget. If I get one high end the other might not be so expensive. I really only buy if I love the watch. I dont do any impulse buys. I think 2 per year for me is enough and SO DOES THE WIFE...lol...So if I really love the watch I will buy it as long as I feel its worth it.
