I have read this before and it's good info to have.
What's amazing to me is that it doesn't cost that much to have the movement tested/certified (approx $45 pass or fail). For brands/models to enter another realm of perceived quality and exclusivity, a COSC certificate is worth the money (I would pay for it). Unfortunately, an issue arises when your movements are routed out-of-house to a facility for up to 3 weeks (including travel, excluding customs [not all COSC movements are encased in Switzerland]) while they are COSC certified.
