Last of the Aussie big bangers.

Holden Commodore SSV Redline and Falcon XR8...

RIP.

SOoO many watches, SOoO little time...

That is sad Black5. 🙁

I'm upset, and we never even had them over here. 😔 At least there
still have to be a bunch of them still on the road, and I bet they are
seen at various car shows you have over there too ! 🙂

Unfortunately no car shows for a while.
Some of the Holden’s made it to the US badged as more highly specced Chevy SS models.
Complete lock down due to Covid 19 here in Melbourne.
Plenty of the Holden’s are still on the road, as they were manufactured until 2017, but the last Falcons were made in 2014 and are becoming quite rare now....

(y) Totally understand Black5, probably will have to wait until next year
to have those car shows again. Seeing them on the road has to be great
though, and like you are saying, they made them all the way up to 2017,
so there have to be a ton around. 😎

By the way, I remember those Chevy SS's. They were very nice, but I
think they had four doors here, and didn't have that cool open back Ute
way about it.

What's intriguing news too, is there are rumors of a new El Camino that
could be in the works. But there really aren't pictures, and you just see
renderings of what they might look like, and even pictures of the Holdens
you have over there. 😉

Unfortunately GM has killed the Holden nameplate and all the local history that goes with it, so the only GM products we are likely to see here in the future will be private imports, some local RHD conversions of Camaro’s and Silverado’s and the Corvette when RHD production eventually comes on stream. (Not likely until end of 2021 from what I hear - and it will cost upwards of $160,000 AUD)...

Had unfortunately known about what happened with Holden sir. But didn't
actually realize GM as a whole was finished having cars, and trucks sold
there. 😧 Was actually just thinking they would be discontinuing the name, and maybe some models only. Wow, that is really
something.

Really appreciate you shedding some more light on everything !

They’ve started something called GMSV (General Motors Specialty Vehicles), to bring in limited runs of cars into our market, but I expect a limited dealer network and high prices will mean we won’t see many. Pretty sad really after the many billions our Governments put into trying to keep them (and Ford, and Toyota) afloat.
We are now a purely import market...

It is sad, and I guess a real sign of the times. Even here in the US, imports
are the big thing. With GM, and Ford ditching the making of cars for just
SUV's, and trucks. It's strange because you think they would know people still want their cars. But evidently not enough do.
It's a sad thing all the way around.
