I understand that many of us have evolved regrading watch size and the topic has been beaten to death. But, is there any circumstance that would allow you to go back and purchase and wear a 39-40mm watch?
I don't think that there is anything that could convince me to do so. It seems that we all have our "size" requirement with little to no faltering on that one characteristic. I will consider 43mm.....but the moment I see that it's below, I walk.

You guys?

I have 40MM Pro-Divers and still wear them

as far as buying - 43mm is tough -i am wrestling right now on a beautiful Citizen i want BUT its 43mm

i need at least 44-45mm to buy and my preference is 47-48mm

i wear everything i own so the 40's will stay until i find i cant wear them anymore -then they will get sold, traded, or gifted away

Never say never (in case someone gives a me nice Patek or Jaeger for whatever reason)! :)

At 267 pounds, my 50mm watches fit great . . . at 193 pounds, even my 50mm look big on me now (but I love them).

I'm wearing a 46mm Wilde-Beast and it fit's nicely.

I'd say my range is 44-50mm, with my comfort zone in the 46-48mm range.

38-40mm seems just too small for me now.

personally I was wearing larger watches for the past few years. 40mm to me just seems to small on my wrist and looks weird. I think with people just getting larger in general, we see the natural progression to larger watches.

for me it really is 47mm and up. It would have to be a very big 44 or 45mm for me to be happy with the watch.

I face this same dilemma. After wearing 45mm and up, one I've had my eye came available. It's 42.5 and I am struggling to like it. I am wearing it ocassionally so I can get acustomed to the size, but it is very hard.

. . . I wear 44mm - 48mm as my favoured sizes. I do have a few 42mm that I wear regularly, my Seiko Monster and Citizen Minute Repeater . . . I wouldn't give either of them up. So, 42mm I guess is my low end . . .

I am a big man and I don't like the 50+ watches for the most part. My sweet spot seems to be 45-48mm. I'd wear a smaller watch and it seems many of the premier brands still run 41-45mm. I jump on a 41.5 Ball Hydrocarbon and if anyone has one and it is too small for them they should let me know.

In spite of the fact that I have a 7" wrist I now prefer bigger watches, up to 47mm, and will not buy a watch smaller than 43mm. I will no longer consider buy anything smaller.

Most of my small watches I have had for years sit in a watch case. I now wear from 45mm to 52mm

Dress watch, 39mm - 43mm is fine with me.
Divers or sport watches I won't consider anything larger than 47mm, They just look goofy on older guys.

Young kids in thier 20's can pull of the huge watch look, not me.

I have a few 40mm pro divers that I also still wear, but I too have moved into the larger watch arena. I have a 6 3/4 to 7 inch wrist. (Yes I am skinny mofo LOL) Now I will not buy anything smaller than a 45mm.

I have a pretty small wrist, so I still get away with wearing a 40MM watch. I have a few in the 50MM+ range. Just to big for me. I really like 42MM-45MM.

Depends on the watch and the occasion its worn for. I like larger watches but do still buy 38 to 40mm dress and sport watches.

this is 39mm.
