Evening,

I'm looking to pick up a dive watch for approx $500 U.S. or less. I have been checking this forum regularly recently and there have been tons of good value dive watches posted. I have kind of lost track of what is what. So any suggestions or pointers in the right direction appreciated. Only criteria is size. I want 43 - 47mm and I like a chunky heavy watch. Open to ideas.

Cheers,

Jarrod

Any Seiko or Orient diver of your own choosing would probably be something to consider. For that matter, Seiko's SBDC001 comes to mind.

Squale has a few divers that are great, but they're all (or mostly) at 40mm, unfortunately. Steinhart has the Ocean 1, but it's still a tad smaller than your requirements at 42mm.

Now that I think about it, Deep Blue would be a good option to consider, something like this (link)

I'm sure I'm not even scratching the surface when it comes to suggesting a watch with the specifications/requirements you have in mind. The other guys will most certainly chime in soon enough, but if I run across something, I'll let you know. :smile-thumb2:

I'll echo the recommendations, the Seiko Sumo SBDC001 is probably the best bang for your buck diver under $500 (IMHO).

A few suggestions.

Marc and Sons. They have a few divers in that range and well under $500

Borealis or Prometheus watches

But if I had to pick my favorite in this style for your size and price, it would be the Anstead Oceanis

44mm, 13mm thick, 220 grams. Sapphire, Miyota 9015, great look and killer lume

All excellent suggestions so far. Great, please keep them coming. I should have mentioned, no Seiko. Love them but I have one and already know a couple of others I will buy. I'm after something a bit different. I saw, I think, a Deep Blue posted here. Anyone know about those??

Great choice, since you said no Seiko, I will second Don's recommendation of the Anstead. Haven't owned one yet, but got to get some hands on time with one recently and really like it.

These are sub $500us and with the ca $ in the tank it's hard to
find great deals. Paypal exchange rate is $1.36.....yikes that hurts.

Good luck and keeps us posted.

Totally forgot the Steihart Apollon.
They are titanium so they are light but look awesome.
3 bezels come with them so you get 3 different looks.
The Ti bracelet is killer.

You can find them on WR for $400-450us

I'm assuming WR meant WatchRecon.com. Great tool for searching watch sales and trades. I use it all the time whenever I'm in the hunt for something (like that Hamilton Pan Europ, for example. haha!)

I would recommend looking at Benarus Benarus Moray Vintage. Picked one up for my dad for his birthday and it's great! A few buddies have one and they love it as well. They have a few different colors and dial options to pick from. U.S. Company and right at your budget with shipping, taxes everything included for $500.
