An interesting read:

One thing I do know, contrary to many businesses, the Swiss do not increase production if their product is a hit, they simply raise the price.

I had heard about the fact that there weren't many Rolex watches to be
found in the wild Hector. However, I didn't realize it was actually so wide
spread. Or that it was with basically every Rolex model, and not just the
more popular, or sought after models. One has to wonder how long all
of it will go on for. Or if it will just be the way things will be now on. 😦
In any case, really want to thank you for the article, as well as the insight
here sir !!!

I agree with you Tom, I would never knew that this situation existed if I didn't read about it on these forums or heard it from my son. I purchased a Rolex back in the late 90's as such I probably would never own another Rolex. In the late 90's when I ourchased my watch this problem obtaining a Rolex did not exist, I remember new Submariners were going for 7k. A week ago my son told me to sell my Rolex because I could sell it for double what I paid for it but I told my son if I did that I would never ever be able to afford another Rolex so what is the point? I am not a watch colletor for financial gain but because I love watches.

When a manufacturer limits their production just to boost the exclusivity of their brand to command higher prices they have lost me, Rolex is dead to me right now, will never buy one again.

Their Tudor line, well that's a different story!

It’s crazy you can’t walk into a dealer and pick a watch? Why? You can with most other brands, omega, breitling, Iwc etc etc? What makes Rolex so special? I mean 20 yrs ago when I last bought a submariner, I remember going into jewellers and ordering it, 2 days later it was there to collect? Why have things changed so much? I don’t get it? Plus the money they sell for second hand is crazy, I’d stick with other brands.
