A man suspected of planning to blow up a Delta Air Lines flight in Detroit could face charges as soon as Saturday according to an official familiar with the case. The suspect is a Nigerian national who claims to have ties to al-Qaeda.
It was unclear today why the man wanted to attack the flight arriving from Amsterdam.
The plane, an Airbus 330, landed about noon in Detroit, and was carrying 278 passengers on a flight from Amsterdam. There were no major injuries.

I'm glad these passengers took care of business. I'm always happy to see citizens taking a stand to protect themselves and everybody else. Good on them.

I agree Rob, people have reached the point they would rather go down fighting then get blown up

Since 9/11 I have made a decision. Though I don't fly alot, I refuse to let ANYONE do anything like that to a plane that I'm on. I went duck hunting with my Dad and a few other friends last weekend and on the return flight from Houston, there was a guy in the seat right behind me that was getting nasty with the flight attendent. She got things calmed down but I was real close to shutting him up myself so we could actually leave the gate. I refuse to go down without doing something about it!!

Given the fact that this persons name was on the "watch list" I'd like to seethe people that let him on the plane face charges too.

Exactly. What's the point of having the list if he's not going to be watched until attempts/commits an act of terrorism. I guess they should just detain everyone on the list- guilty until proven innocent.

Iam not a fan of any law that takes away rights of decent Americans, such as the Patriot act.But in the case of letting asuspected terrorist on a plane, what is the point of having it. If it is so laxed in this incident, the question arises, how well is it working in other incidents with suspected terrorist? We all should feel that we are safe and protected for all the sacrifices we have to make in this era we living through. Just me venting....Please forgive my rant.

Hey there should have been other red flags on this guy as well..
1. He paid cash for his flight to Detroit
2. He was going to Detroit to begin with.
The guy out of Miami that just got arrested for wanting all the jews dead was heading to Detroit as well.
Detroit is not a tourist destination its a terrorist destination.Im keeping my wheels on the ground.and because of it I havent seen my mother for 8 years now.
