Yes and no. The fact that it is being X-rayed isn't what harms it, it is the electrical equipment that could possibly magnetize it (like anything else from speakers to microwave ovens to iPads).

I travel every single week for work and am in airports 2-4 times per week.

1) I NEVER take my watch off. Never, even if it is a heavy Breitling. To dangerous to take off and risk getting scratched, etc.
2) It does not harm the watch going through security and the scanners.

I have traveled extensively for work and wear everything from my Rolex to my G-Shock and I've never had an issue. I usually slip my watch into my carry on before I get to scanners.
