Don't get me started.....I hate Airport security...I know we MUST have it but it is a real pain for me....I have two titanium knees so I need to get stripped searched every time I go through security.....I need to remove my shoes, belt, WATCH, and just about everything else, then step aside and have a pat down and wanding by some less then friendly TSA agent......then I need to get redressed.....I hate it. I know we need it but that doesn't mean I have to like it. :madd

I don't fly much anymore for that same reason....I have so much metal in my left leg....plus I have to wear a brace just to walk...and they always want to make me take my brace off so they can check it.

I grew up on the Canadian border & we would travel back & forth like it was simply the next town over, customs would wave carloads of us by with ease...After recently being up there after a long absence I was amazed at the amount of security, border patrol with sidearms, e-ray machines the size of buildings, patrol boats, etc.

Recently I had to fly down to Northern California and I was really upset that I had to toss my water and some lotion I just bought. All because I forgot the little bottles rule. Next time I had to go down to Cali, I took the train. They let you take anything!!!!

I just flash my credentials and I'm good to go. Kidding, I'm only kidding. LOL!! Actually I had to throw away a mini-leatherman once and my wife had to throw away her pepper spray. TSA isn't as big a pain in my keester as the cost of checking on my luggage. That really grinds my gears. Argh.................

Sorry Duchess I didn't mean to "grind your gears!" I just thought in this era of super security, it was funny that granny was in an aisle seat knitting away when I was boarding the plane.

I HATE flying with a passion!! I HATE the TSA people and my best friend works for them here in Indianapolis. He's a Security Inspector and it's his job to monitor the airlines and make sure they are following all the necessary security protocalls. He loves his job but he says that there are STILL, after all these years, people trying to carry on guns and other deadly weapons! Virtually every week at least one person is nabbed at a checkpoint.

Also, I used to sellBiomet artificial knees that some of you guys have implanted and when I was selling them, the manufacturer had really nice plastic cards for the wallet stating that a person has a titanium implant and it has a picture of the implant on it. They made these just for the reasons you guys are talking about. If you don't have one, I would ask your orthopaedic surgeon about it and see if he can get one for you! It may not make a difference but it sure wouldn't hurt!

One thing I have figured out from the last couple of trips to the airport is that I didn't have to take off my watch to go through the metal detector.I hated to put it in that plastic bin and watch security people pick it up look at it and then THROW it back in the bin.The first time was an accident and I just forgot to take it off and the detector didn't go off.The next time I went through with my watch on purpose and it didn't go off again. So now I just wear them the metal detectors and haven't had a problem yet.

I have one, but they are worthless now.....they won't even look at them at the NY airports.

Aww, that's alright & it gave us a good topic...As you can see, some feel strongly about these security checkpoints...And it served to reiterate what I had already thought, the people in charge don't really have a clue.

Wow that's interesting! I haven't been in that business for about 9 years so I had no idea that the cards don't work. What a pain in the ass! I really feel like TSA lives to screw with people and make their day go shitty!
