I don't fly much anymore for that same reason....I have so much metal in my left leg....plus I have to wear a brace just to walk...and they always want to make me take my brace off so they can check it.Don't get me started.....I hate Airport security...I know we MUST have it but it is a real pain for me....I have two titanium knees so I need to get stripped searched every time I go through security.....I need to remove my shoes, belt, WATCH, and just about everything else, then step aside and have a pat down and wanding by some less then friendly TSA agent......then I need to get redressed.....I hate it. I know we need it but that doesn't mean I have to like it. :madd
I grew up on the Canadian border & we would travel back & forth like it was simply the next town over, customs would wave carloads of us by with ease...After recently being up there after a long absence I was amazed at the amount of security, border patrol with sidearms, e-ray machines the size of buildings, patrol boats, etc.leaving Canada goin to US is a total pain.
Also, I used to sell Biomet artificial knees that some of you guys have implanted and when I was selling them, the manufacturer had really nice plastic cards for the wallet stating that a person has a titanium implant and it has a picture of the implant on it. They made these just for the reasons you guys are talking about. If you don't have one, I would ask your orthopaedic surgeon about it and see if he can get one for you! It may not make a difference but it sure wouldn't hurt!
Aww, that's alright & it gave us a good topic...As you can see, some feel strongly about these security checkpoints...And it served to reiterate what I had already thought, the people in charge don't really have a clue.Sorry Duchess I didn't mean to "grind your gears!"
Wow that's interesting! I haven't been in that business for about 9 years so I had no idea that the cards don't work. What a pain in the ass! I really feel like TSA lives to screw with people and make their day go shitty! Also, I used to sell Biomet artificial knees that some of you guys have implanted and when I was selling them, the manufacturer had really nice plastic cards for the wallet stating that a person has a titanium implant and it has a picture of the implant on it. I have one, but they are worthless now.....they won't even look at them at the NY airports.
