The teeth on the index wheel are too small to see. Amazing it all works. The second hand is attached to the index wheel, and should never be moved or it will destroy the index teeth.

Sorry but nothing is attached to the index wheel.

The index wheel drives the second wheel.

The second wheel drives the third wheel.

The third wheel drives the forth wheel.

The forth wheel drives the center wheel and arbor.

The canyon pinion is pressed onto the arbor of the center wheel.

The canyon pinion drives the minute wheel and has the minute hand pressed onto it.

The minute wheel drives the hour wheel which has the the hour hand pressed onto it.

And last but not least the center wheel drives the sweep seconds pinion which has the sweep seconds hand pressed onto it.......

Turning the seconds hand forwards very slowly won't cause any damage to the index wheel or the pawl & indexing jewel or fingers BUT damage may occur if the seconds hand is turned backwards.....

That is very informative. I was not sure how the index wheel was connected to the second hand, (not directly, as you clarify) but the point was that moving the second hand could easily damage the index wheel (indirect connection).
