A Skagen 380LSXM

368 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Lawyer Aidroos
A quite thin stainless steel Tonneau shape dress watch in stainless steel. 7.5mm thick maximum per my measurement with a date window at 6 O'clock. Picked up on eBay for $37 + tax and shipping. Quite clean with minor scratches on the band, which was the right size for me as received. The band is quite thin at about 3.2mm. No lume as is common with dress watches. A quite dressy stainless steel watch and a check with Google indicates the original MSRP was about $125. Looking on eBay there seem to be a fair number of Skagen watches at good prices and they tend to be quite dressy and thin watches, many with mesh bands. 33 mm wide and just under 48mm tall including the band mounting extensions so a fairly large format tonneau watch.

Alright, that’s up there for bang for the buck of the year Astro ! 😉

A SUPER Skagen congratulations !!!

We see you somehow able to track these amazing deals as
well as watches down all the time and I know that I am just
always enamored by what you find out there. (y)(y) And you
know, I have seen Skagen watches throughout the years, but
literally always had thought that they were expensive. .,So I am
pleasantly surprised to hear how incredibly priced these beauties
actually are.

Oh and you know what I love about these watches to go along
with the price as well as case shape?! 😀The fact that the way
the design is done, that the bracelet melts right into the case
like this ! It’s got to be ultra comfy sir. Man oh man, a great
design, price, comfort ! ..That’s an horological hat trick !!!

Another Skagen tonneau watch at basically the same price, $51 including tax and shipping. This Skagen black titanium 396LTTM is claimed to be in virtually new shape. Original MSRP was circa $175. Note that this one has both lume and a day/date display. Another ebay find. The seller claims he is selling off his 100+ watches collection and this one has minimal wear time. With their sleek designs and thin bodies Skagen watches are generally quite dressy watches for the usual list prices and some are outstanding buys on eBay. I always closely examine photos and read descriptions before buying used items.

Boy oh boy, even the way they do their mesh bracelets is exceptional Astro. 😮
It actually seems to be tapering in the same way as their bracelets. Plus the
design of the mesh looks terrific with it's ultra fine contruction and how delicate
yet tough it is. (y)You can see it is was really well thought out and 'meshes'
right into the watch perfectly. 😉

Oh and by the way, how about that TAG Heuer Monaco vibe with the watch?!😎
It seriously has the feel, but then Skagen added this neat futuristic feel imho.
Just awesome Astro ! ..THX a bunch once again for the looks !!!
Tom, as I recall you posted that you usually buy used any more so if you want to add a Tonneau design watch to your collection at a good price then a Skagen from eBay would be a good candidate.

It really IS sir, 😉 thanks so much just for thinking of me.(y)(y)
These Skagens hit on all cylinders design and price wise !
The 396LTTM arived today and looks basically new. Cannot find a scratch on it. Being titanium it is very light at 2.2 ounces including the band. The band is very fine wire mesh and only 1.5mm thick, 25.4mm wide at the watch body and 22mm at the latch. Bezel is 34.3mm wide by 37.3mm high excluding the band mounting clamps so a medium large size men's Tonneau shape watch. A bit thicker than the top watch at about 9mm, I presume due to the date and DOW mechanisms. Hands and markers do have Lume paint.

The top stainless steel watch with the stainless steel links bracelet is almost twice as heavy at 4 ounces.

It sounds even better than we thought it was going to be Astro ! 😎😀
I honestly love when that is the case because it isn’t a guarantee
that a watch. Or that this watch was going to live up to expectations.
However, I think that it is safe to say that this one not only lives up
to expectations, but goes beyond them. 😉

Enjoy sir, and keep on enjoying !!!
