A little back round...
I buy watches for multiple reasons like many freaks. My sumo I bought as marker for the birth of my second daughter. So I never plan to flip the watch. I may give it to her at some point, assuming she will want it 15+ years from now. In the mean time I will be the guardian of this time piece...
That being said, Daddy can still mess with it a bit...
So I, like many others, am rarely satisfied with things just the way they are.
Soon after buying the Sumo, even after all the multitude of reviews, came to the conclusion that I wasn't a fan of the bracelet.
Now I have painfully small wrists for a guy(6.25-6.5) so the watch looks fine. But I prefer a larger bracelet.
I own a skx007 and 009( pertinent later), which both have 22mm bracelets on them.... thanks Strapcode.

I decided to switch the stock seiko bracelet with the upgraded MM clasp, yes this has gottten expensive, to a strapcode engineer bracelet.

I like/ liked it. But still even with the bracelet being 20mm constant instead of the taper like the stock bracelet it seems small.
One of my favorite watches is my DeepBlue Pro Aqua... 24 mm tapers to 22mm, extremely comfortable and sits great.

So, there I am trying to get a couple of skx's together for modding because I am going to give them to my nephews as grad presents... I have bracelets and pins and crap all over my desk...
I happen to be wearing my sumo and think to myself I would like to see the old stock bracelet on it again....
Damn... what ever pins I used to put bracelet on I can't get out even with the drilled lugs.... oh crap what did I do...
Maybe if I unscrew the bracelet I can get a better angle and get them out.....
No luck and a couple of cocktails in...
Now I have even more pieces on the desk.... what pin goes where? which bracelet goes to which watch...
Oh I think I might have really messed this up.... maybe go to bed and fix this mess in the morning.
Nah....
But wait... seems like the end link drilling on the 22mm bracelet from my SKX's and the end link drilling on the sumo are pretty close...
What if....
The following pictures are brought to you by Bear Republic racer 5 beer, and diplomatico Rum..
This is a combo of two strapcode engineer bracelets and the newer divers ratcheting clasp...

Looks great!

My Sumo had come with a second bracelet form the seller that used a 22mm oyster bracelet attached to 20mm fitted end links and worked out well. It is a great option for those who prefer a wider bracelet on the Sumo. The 20mm OEM bracelet didn't bother me much after a while once I had the Marine Master clasp on it, but it still is a bit small for a case of that size.
