While I wouldn't recommend following these steps in order, this will certainly help anybody weed out the vast majority of fakes:

Also, another tip: If you got it for under $500, it's probably a fake.
Second: Don't damage your watch unless you do not care if it is fake or not. Repeat: Don't do a water test or open up the back unless you want to possibly void a warranty or break your watch entirely :)

Thanks for the headsup on Rolex fakies.
I have a pal, a retired opthalmologist who just bought a Rolex Yachtmaster.
Too blingy for me by a mile. But a real Rolex from an AD. He owns 6 other Rolexs
Date/Just/Subs/Explorers.
I could afford the bezel off one of em. I lust for a cheaper Tudor.
