Here is the question / challenge.

As most know I just purchased the Oris. The cost was in the $1100-$1300 range for this Swiss made masterpiece. I could not be happier and I might not buy another watch this year. But that means it is time to start researching and thinking about "the next one" for someday in the future.

If I was going to start researching my "next watch" and saving for it - What watch (model and brand) would compare to the Oris (quality wise inside and out) and stay in that top price range? So it could cost $0 - $1300. Does not have to be a historically considered luxury "Swiss" Watch Brand, but still a well respected good quality one.

Additional Requirements
  1. All metal bracelets - no leather or rubber. It can be a kit that includes these, but the bracelet is a must - preferably silver and not gold.
  2. 46-48mm minimum case size
  3. Can be 3 hand or Chronograph
  4. Can be automatic or other inside.
  5. Finally for this question please remember this important point - the goal of this question is to discuss QUALITY watches, that will probably retain their value, and also be awesome watches to add to a collection and wear.
I look forward to hearing from everyone with their thoughts and suggestions.

Hamilton is an excellent choice!

James, I'll be searching some brands/models for myself, and will let you know as well.

What style are you looking for . . . dress, diver, pilots, etc? Also, are there any complications you are looking for . . . small seconds, GMT, power reserve indicator, etc?

Well my normal look/preference has been along the diver look, many chronos, but I am really open to anything, as long as it meets the 46-48mm or up size requirement and all stainless steel (no rubber or leather). Auto or quartz is fine,

To get an idea of my "type" of watch in the past, here are my current top watches I own and actually wear (all have pics are in my gallery)
Oris TT1 small second, date - 47mm
Seiko 5 Divers Auto Day Date - 45-50mm with crowns, all black
Seiko Kinetic 200M - 48mm
Citizen Skyhawk - 48mm - all stainless
Citizen Orca - only watch on rubber.
Invicta full size SAS - Silver and black chrono
Invicta Grand Diver black auto - 47mm the original one.
Zodiac Dragon Wing - all stainless
Stuhrling IL Capo - all stainless

Thanks Man!

How about another version of the big O?

This Oris TT1 Diver's Chronograph (ref 674.7599.71.54.RS ) is in a 47mm x 19mm satin finished titanium screw back case with polished lugs and red/black unidirectional rotating bezel, water resistant to 1000 meters. It has a black guilloche dial with arrowhead markers and quickset date at six. This watch has a sapphire crystal, a signed screw down crown, screw down pushers, and a helium release valve at ten. It is on a signed black rubber dive strap with flip lock deployant clasp, long enough for an eight and a half inch wrist. This watch is new and unworn, with no scratches or other flaws on the case, crystal, or bezel, with all of the factory protective plastic still in place. The Oris cal 674 (base cal ETA 7750) 25 jewel Swiss automatic movement maintains accurate time within a tolerance of six seconds per day, and the chronograph zeros and functions precisely. This unworn diver's chronograph, which will be sold with boxes, hang tag, papers, and a one year Watchseller Warranty, has a list price of $2950.

I agree w/ the Hamilton and G-SAR recommendations, but have one more to add. The Zinex Heliox (46mm w. X 53mm l. X 18mm height) on a 4mm thick mesh bracelet (you may not like mesh, but they are known for having one of the best) and is 2500M WR w/ an ETA 2824-A2. You can probably find one at or under $1,000. I'll try to find a pic for you if you'd like. Okay, found one (edited to show pic). Here ya go:
