Actually I want a nice diver with a pepsi bezel... I want to make sure I weigh all my options though. I'd like an auto, around 45mm and under $500

I know seiko makes a few, I'm considering the solar chrono. It's not an auto though, and I'm not crazy about the chrono dial.

I really like the steinhart ocean one. It's an awesome watch, and fits the bill for the most part. It's a little small for me though.

I know orient makes the mako with a pepsi bezel, but again, a little small. I saw some talk of a mako xl with a pepsi bezel, but it isn't on their website, and I can't find it for sale anywhere.

Is there anything I need to look at other than those?

I've seen them go preowned for $450-$500. Who knows now that they are sold out sold out and steinhart doesn't know when they will get movements.
But maybe just keep eyes peeled on sales forums or put up a WTB ad for one.

What's wrong with the bracelet on the SKX009?
Folded links all around, pretty cheap but comfortable. You can pic up a "super" jubilee, oyster, or whatever style bracelet you like with end-links to fit the SKX for usually well under $100 and it makes the watch all that much better. The stock bracelet is really my only gripe on the SKX007/009, but I also wore mine on NATO's often.

Isn't that 41mm?
42mm, slightly smaller than what he was asking, but a very nice size for a diver either way. Plus, even if you add in an aftermarket bracelet, it is half what the Steinhart costs.

That's personal opinion of course.

I owned one of these about 2 years ago and it wore way too small for me.
I was just going on based on his post asking for 45mm, which even the Steinhart is 44. 45mm and 42mm is a big difference.

Can't go wrong with any of these beauties the guys are showing Drew. :smile-thumb:

Found this one to add to your list. It's a Mondia Diver measuring 44 mm, and has the ETA 2824-2...

Wow, I like that. It's a bit over budget, but that's very tempting.

I've never heard of that brand though. is anyone familiar with it?

They were evidently established in Switzerland back in 1935, and are now Italian I believe Drew. Here is their Wave 500 Auto that I have that is basically the same watch, but with an orange, and green color scheme, and little different bracelet. It's one of my favorites...:)

that's a cool dial on the orange/green mondia

I'll have to think about it for a few days. Currently if I could just pick one I'd get the steinhart ocean 44. I'm afraid it will be hard to find, let alone for $500...

Is the SKX009 smaller than the stargate? I have a stargate, and I wouldn't really want anything smaller than that.

Good looking watch Tom. I've never heard of them until now. Thanks for the introduction.

Quick question. Did you purchase yours from timequestwatches? Just want to be sure they're a reliable source.

Thanks.
